Utah: you never were a done deal. You were always there as an option in case the Pac 10 ran out of teams they really wanted and needed an even number.

SU: You were wrong in every way imaginable and only through the most extremely random series of events did your scenario hold true. Academics never were the driver in any of these discussions. The Pac was ready to take Texas Tech and anyone else Texas demanded to bring along.

$17 M for a 'fall back' school? Not bad. Just a little better than $1.2M from the MWC.

Doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you get there.

I think if you stuck to posting about sports you'd have fit in here better.

My expertise transcends sports. It's called reality and RCA.

I will let you suck my right nut if Utah is getting a full cut of the pie.

Regardless, still a nice deal for them.

I would give this label to another poster on this board. Not DU.

$17 M was for the Pac 16 conference. I'm pretty sure the Pac 11 or 12 isn't going to get that kind of money now that Texas and the other big schools are off the table. The Pac 10 just went from possibly having UT, OU and aTm (very wealthy schools both in tradition and money) to getting only CU and UU (possibly). Try selling that to whoever is setting up the new TV contract.

That's really hitting below the belt. I wouldn't accuse you of that. Ever. You're back on the list.

Well, one has ties to Emery county and the other played for Central Commission my bitter rival growing up yet neither of them would fit that label. Those are two of my hommies on this board.

So what's stopping Utah and BYU from becoming CSU and CU? By this I mean that CSU while being in a non-BCS conference has had flashes and CU had some good years in the early 90s but otherwise they both are mediocre at best.

Neither BYU or Utah are located in a hotbed for recruiting and BYU does have that Mormon appeal so they still might be able to land decent LDS recruits. Is Utah going to have an easier time recruiting now? Are they going to go toe to toe wiht the likes of Cal or UCLA for recruits?

Don't get me wrong, I think Utah will consistently vie for middle of the road in the PAC 12 and maybe compete for first or second every now and then but that's really not saying a whole lot given that the PAC 12 is maybe the 3rd or 4th best conference behind the SEC (1st), Big 12 (2nd) and maybe the Big 10 (3rd - although very likely 3rd with the addition of Nebraska).
