If that's the case, does that mean that the extra revenue would offset the cost of dividing the pie into two extra pieces?

I guess I don't understand why one conference wants to expand to 12 and the other prefers to stay at 10. Does it come down to the differences in TV deals between the two conferences?
No, sorry, I meant a conference championship game generates about $10M.

There might be some anti Pac 10 feelings at the end of all this for the Big 12 schools. If Utah goes to Pac, stealing the Utah market away from them by adding BYU could be a motivation. An extremely minor motivation, but hey I'm grasping for anything right now.

Step 1: Keep the core of Big 12 together
Step 2: Invite two teams to preserve a big $$ championship game

But if Oklahoma and Texas don't like a championship game, there is no championship game, right?

Some good news for BYU for once...

I just heard Chip say on ESPN radio that a significant part of this deal is that they stay at 10 teams.

Maybe that means that it doesn't work if anyone else leaves. I.e., no A&M to the SEC or the deal falls apart.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I wish. But the alternative makes more sense. Clearly TX holds all the cards here and why would they want to create one more game they have to win when they can win the de facto championship in October?

Hmm... Not likely. BTW, when is Oklahoma going to grow their own talent rather than shopping Texas?

FYI, I hear there are some USC juniors and seniors on the market that OU could get cheap.

When the Adrian Petersons stop turning their back on UT in favor of Oklahoma. :-D

Oh, absolutely. Our first choice was Boise State, but barring that we're hoping to pick up BYU, and maybe West Virginia, too.
