Does GMan really speak to all these players? why would they speak to him?

but if he has so much scoop, why was he not on the phone yesterday breaking this news? why does Stanford break it? how did they find out before TBS?

Seems like the reason to pay for TBS is to know things about 30 minutes before everyone else, if that.

The SC boards are excited about this news. I just don't see teo going to Notre Dame. There is an outside chance that he goes to westwood because he has Punahou teammates going there, no?

If Gman wants to break a scoop, he should find out what went wrong with this one. The "make a bigger impact" line seems pretty generic. Was it really because of this recruiting party?

I never thought we had a chance with Manti. The best linebacker in the country doesn't go to BYU. I wonder if Bronco's retarded comment was directed to Manti.

i'm sure it was. bronco seems like a mediocre recruiter. would any of the bigger names he has signed not gone to byu under lavell or crowton?

It's not that old. Junkie said it was probably directed at Manti and another recruit.

How badly does CB attack the Teo family? I assume he gets a little softer treatment than Ngata or Havili. But probably not much.

I see where you're coming from, but sometimes those who report it get burned by their sources.

Over the past several years Gurney has the majority of the time outscooped Harmon, Drew, and anyone else regarding BYU recruits and their commits. In fact it has even't been close.

                      This time he got burned.

My guess is he gets a softer treatment. Of course, there have already been some attacks today. The speculation about his mission has already begun. Funny thing is that if he goes to BYU there would be a group of fans silently rejoicing if he didn't go on his mission.

For the most part I love Bronco. However, there are two things about his approach that bug me:

                          1. If Bronco has an upperclassman that sucks and an underclassman that sucks but has a lot of potential and needs experience, he will play the upperclassman. If you have to play someone who sucks let the younger guy with potential play as he may just grow into the role faster than you might think.

                          2. Far too much emphasis on the spiritual. Eighteen year old kids (even LDS kids) do not want to be given the impression that their time at college will be spent studying and giving firesides. College kids want to have fun and being beat over the head with religion at every turn isn't all that attractive. BYU has enough of the religion part without overemphasising it.

Honestly, if Bronco was recruiting me to BYU when I was coming out of high school I would have major reservations about going. When I was that age I could barely stand to sit all the way through a three hour block or give a two minute talk. Even today it takes an act of congress to get up and share my testimony. I would not want to play ball at a place where the spectre of giving, or at least attending, weekly firesides was constantly looming.

I would not have been silent about that desire.

On the bright side BYU got a commit for 2010 today from LB recruit Joey Owens from Pleasant Grove.

                              Fight on!
