Be that as it may, he looked damn good on some of those carries. I just remember him knocking some fools on their backs bursting through the line like I really wouldn't expect from BYU in a big game.

He had a couple of good plays and and a bunch of bad ones -- which kind of highlights why Unga started and Kariya didn't. Kariya did very well given expectations and given the situation and the stage, but it certainly didn't build a case for why we should expect good things consistently from him if he got increased playing time.

I remember being very impressed by Kariya in that game too.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

We have signed 11 running backs in the last 3 recruiting classes not a bad idea to switch positions with all of that competition.

The big play was his catch and run down the sidelines. That skews perception quite a bit.

He is a big kid that can knock a punch, but he had one good run. He is what he is. He is reliable and will be at the right place doing the right thing. He is strong and knocks a decent punch but he is also a marginal D1 rb. Not a bad backup and if he learns to block well a very useful utility type of back. I think Q is the only one in the bunch with genuine capability to be a difference maker. But I doubt it surfaces much until into his sophmore year.

Next year is going to be wrought with growing pains.

Of that 11 JJ and Peni will be the only rbs on next year's active roster.

I think there are people that think he crushed it because he had the one big catch that set up a score.

I would say serviceable would be a better word for his performance vs. Oklahoma with one huge play.

My only thing about the switch is the position he is switching to. I think that the safety depth for BYU is not good right now. Also, Malosi is 5'9/5'10 205 right?

My guess is this says more about Malosi and that he is likely to not be heard of much. BYU LB depth is a big concern this year but without some injuries or defections, this is likely the only year in Malosi's career at BYU that will be the case. Next year BYU will have Kaveinga, Overstreet, Jorgenson, Beck, Hadley and Keoishian at ILB. Well, I guess Hadley might redshirt so there is a potential hole at 3rd string. On the outside they will have Van Noy, Pendleton, Frazier, Alisa, Sorenson and Fua. Once again Alisa and Sorenson are RS candidates and perhaps Sorenson might move back to safety.

Kaveinga is leaving on a mission. He won't be around until 2012.

Good for him....better for Tyler Beck!

My guess is he is leaving this summer so he will be out 2010 and 2011 and likely to redshirt 2012, leaving him as the unfullfilled superstar in 2013 and 2014.

Still bums me out. I was looking forward to seeing him next year -- he apparently was pretty impressive in Spring.

The 3-3-5 works pretty well for TCU. Of course, they have a pretty good free safety that had something crazy like 15 tackles against BYU.
