  • Series by Series Breakdown

On CB today I posted each play as they occurred for each quarterback's series. I was trying to post on my mobile as fast as I could so some things got left out. I was also wrong a couple times on the running backs and receivers involved.

    Here's what I had:

    Series #1

    Heaps
    1. I missed the play.
    2. Sack
    3. Overthrew a bomb. Very pretty throw.

    Nelson

    1. Nelson bomb down left sideline. Hit receiver in stride but pass was dropped. DB had good coverage.
    2. Handoff for five yards.
    3. Five yard completion across middle.
    1 Quick out for Eight.
    2. Handoff up gut for first down. Quezada ball carrier
    1. Handoff quezada for 1
    2. Nelson rush for 5
    3. Sack. This wouldn't have been a sack in a real game. Nelson would have had the first down easily.

    Lark

    1. Handoff to Kariya for seven yards.
    2. False Start penalty.
    2. Handoff to JJ for no gain.
    3. Out to JJ for first down.

Whistle blew and Lark's series ended.

    Series 2:

    Nelson

    1. Rolled left. Twenty yard out thrown wide incomplete.
    2. QB draw for five. Probably a first down in a real game.
    3. Nelson thrown to Brown on curl. Hits him in numbers but dropped.

    Lark

    1. Ten yard out thrown a tad short. Good breakup by corner.
    2. Trap to Quezada for seven.
    3. Seven yard out to Q. Makes great fake and goes for twenty yards.
    1. Lark to Q underneath for a yard. Linebackers were all over this one.
    2. Lark to Peterson on curl for seven yards.
    3. Lark to Q on out. Tipped by DE
    4. Curl to JJ for first down.
    1. Sack. Good coverage but Lark could have escaped the pressure.
    2. Q rush up middle for one yard.
    3. Lark picked on a slant.

Format for some reason switched to 7 on 7 at this point.

    Heaps

1 .Swing pass to Kariya for three yards.
    2. Swing pass for 1st down.
    1. Quick out for two.
    2. Flag to corner of endzone but overthrew open receiver.
    3. Out complete for one yard.
4 I had missed this play and those around me said it was dropped in end zone. Others said touchdown to Harvey.

    Nelson

    1. Quick out for seven yards.
    2. Quick slant in slot for first down.
    1.. Overthrew fifteen yard out.
    2. Seven yard out complete. YAC for first down.
    1. Twenty yard out Slightly overthrown. Incomplete.
    2. Curl broken up by LB.
3 Overthrew receiver in end zone. Note: Ball was thrown from the fifty yard line.

    Series 3

    Heaps

    1. Bomb broken up in ez
    2. I missed this play
    3. Slant to TE up middle complete for twenty yards. Beautiful throw.

    1. Fifteen yard out incomplete. Missed short and wide.
    2. Quick slant complete for one yard gain.
    3. Sack
    4. Payne field goal good from forty eight yard line.

    Nelson

    1. Play action fake complete to TE up middle for twenty yards.
    1. Nelson run for 6
    2. Q runs sweep for one yard.
    3. QB draw for a first down. Didn't get yardage over this one but it was over ten yards.
    1. False start penalty. Ball on fifteen yard line after five yard penalty.
    1. Q run up middle for six yards.
    2. Run up middle for touchdown. I missed who ran it but was told later it was Q.

Awesome! See I got one right. Q was really impressive. Nice fellow too. He took some time to talk to my nephews and take pics.

This also could be the throw that CJ was refering too in the other thread. Please excuse my .mtn video skills,

The deep ball by Nelson that you said hit him in stride was actually really underthrown. If he would have laid it out front Hoffman had his guy beat, but it was underthrown HOffman reached back to get it and had it pinned against the defenders back for a minute but couldnt haul it in. It was not a bad throw by any means just should have been out in front a bit more.

Heaps did throw a TD to Harvey during 7 on 7s. Harvey ran right up the seam Heaps dropped it in over a defender and it Harvey in the hands he batted it up in the air before pulling it in. That may be why some thought it was incomplete.

I thought he hit him in the numbers but then again I was trying to do a couple of things at once. Thanks for the clarification.

On the Harvey play I saw a tight end in the area plow into a DB and go down. I assumed he was the intended target and that the ball fell. I looked down at that point and assumed the cheering was for the defense.

Oh well, you can't get 'em all right.
