Question on some recruits

to some of you who follow this more closely. I note a couple of recruits that signed appear not to have been recruited by anyone else. Once a kid has signed with BYU, they are guys I am fully behind and I personally won't rip on them. These kids may turn out to be Chad Lewis or Dennis Pitta.

My question though as far as overall recruiting goes. Are these kids ones who sign so early no one else recruits them. Are they recruited for character as much as talent. Can our coaches just see things no one else sees. When we talk about not having scholarships, I just wonder what is the key in signing recruits not recruited by anyone else.

All situations are different. But in BYUs case most of their kids have committed before even their senior seasons. Which causes other schools to lay off.

Also it could be like you said that BYU sees something others do not.

Hanneman, Brown, Kautai. I didn't name them because I didn't want to appear to be knocking anyone and I am not. It is a question out of ignorance of the situation. I am happy to have these kids and am just wondering.

Brown has been committed to BYU for over a year now, and pretty much ended his recruitment at that point.

Kautai and Hanneman are both sign and send guys and I think they are a bit of projects that were potentially class fillers.

To tell you the truth, his subtle shot at our fans with the comment about the February championship was pretty dang good. While not original, I think he patterned it after someone I greatly admire.

Why would we need class filler in a year with so many commits?

And what do you mean by sign and send? Send to a JC? Doesn't that only happen if they don't have the grades?

So who did Kautai and Hanneman prevent BYU from signing?

I guess I'm not making my point very effectively. In two years when Kautai and Kanneman come off missions, there will be two kids we won't be able to sign. This is called buying recruits on credit.

The two kids we weren't able to sign this year is due to two kids coming off missions that were sign and sends from two years ago. I'd just like us to have the same criteria for sign and sends as we do for the kids that get schollies immediately.
