If you want to punish Bronco for disrespecting you, sign with Kyle. All you other BYU commits, it's not too late to show some independence and gumption after your moms committed you when you were hardly teens.

This is actually a good, reasoned post. Congrats.

If anyone would like to report this thread, it is basically a potential NCAA recruiting violation. The title is especially classic. Brilliant work.

Fans are considered boosters and are not allowed to engage in direct communication with recruits via message boards or facebook groups in an effort to entice the players to attend their school.

How interesting if SeattleUte's post winds up dooming the Ute football program.

SC recently contacted the main SC message boards and asked them to C&D these sorts of posts.

Here is another example from KU:

Are they registered here? Why is this different than if the DesNews did it? WHy didn't they prosecute me when I did something similar last year?

They don't need to be registered here. With respect to your final question, a friend of mine in Indianapolis has requested a link.

They don't have to be registered and the potential for violation is not limited to facebook or twitter. It can extent to fan message board sites.

The title of your thread is what is particularly interesting. You basically have zero way to argue that you are not trying to sway these kids. In fact, by your own admission, your thread is aimed directly at them.

Newspapers rarely (if ever) write articles asking kids directly to sign with any particular school. Also, and more importantly, newspapers are not affiliated with the NCAA as fans, boosters, or alumni, therefore they are not subject to the same restrictions.

The NCAA doesn't prosecute fans for message board posts. They simply punish the schools for the behavior of the fans. I can't say for sure, but my guess is that is why the NCAA did not prosecute you.

So once a booster always a booster? I'm pretty sure SU hasn't watched or attended a game in years, does he still count?

If I were a Ute fan I'd be livid at SU for having such a cavalier attitude towards NCAA rules. Livid!

This is probably the most compelling argument in favor of SeattleUte. It is very difficult to successfully argue that he is a fan, booster, or otherwise affiliated with Utah athletics.

If this thing ever blew up, I would be willing to testify of his well-established apathy. I don't want to see anything happen to our friend.

I've no doubt I could lawyer my way out of this. The NCAA is comprised of state schools. Freedom of speech, etc. Let me see the actual rule.

I agree. I'd provide some milk and cookies to help cheer him up after he ruined the Ute football program.

Myles Brand is probably rolling over in his grave after seeing such blatant violations of NCAA rules.
