  • "Mid-Majors"

Assuming BYU continues to take care of business the rest of this game, and those ahead of us who have to lose, the final top 10 this year could end up with 3 non-AQ teams in it. A 2-loss BYU with this kind of a bolw win and a 1-loss BSU/TCU should both be in the top 10.

I think if TCU wins convincingly, Boise will drop out of the top 10.

I think most people are looking for a reason to drop Boise like a rock. They are just waiting for Boise to be exposed.

If it's close, maybe Boise sticks in the top 10.

I suppose the same could be said about TCU losing, but I don't even want to entertain that possibility.

I can't see any result but a total TCU whipping of BSU, unless TCU completely phones it in. TCU is a complete package this year; BSU is merely a big fish in a small pond.

Something deep in my bosom, maybe almost my bowels, makes me think this will be a close game. I could see it being a last team to have the ball wins.

I think you're a year behind on your games. That was last years game, for sure. Since then, TCU has looked substantially better and Boise hasn't really done much to impress me in the 4 or 5 games of theirs that I have watched.

I'm not calling a blowout or anything, but I would be more than mildly surprised if its as close as you are thinking it will be.

What's the line on this game, btw? I'd be interested to see what Vegas thought of this game this year versus this game last year.

TCU -7, with the degenerate gamblers giving a slight lean to BSU and the points. I hadn't looked at this until tonight since my sports book account is wiped out.

I have been wrong before, and will be again, something just tells me this one is close.

Some interesting numbers from the page you linked. A 10.5 point swing in TCU's favor from last year. Boise has failed to beat the spread 5 times in the last 10 games, versus TCU's three times.

It would appear that BSU has allowed themselves to go on cruise control for a few games this year, I agree. However I don't remember a Peterson team not showing up for a game that meant something. True that they only have to play one or two of those a year, but they always seem to show up.

Me too. Don't underestimate a Chris Petersen team... They were expected to get blown out by OU in that Bowl and won it..

I have a feeling BSU is going to pull it off. Not sure how I feel about that.. I want TCU to be ranked 3rd or higher, but my family connections to BSU is tugging at me...

When did this turn into CB. For years BYU whined because nobody gave them any credit and pointed at their weak schedule. I think it all peaked with Barry Switzer's comments. Please help me understand what the difference is?

TCU vs. BSU is going to be close. TCU will win, but it won't be by more than 10 points. That bowl game last year between the two was a great game and there hasn't been a drop off in the performance of either team this year. I expect a similar type game.

I'm also hoping for a close game to bolster BSU's final ranking for when they're invited to join the conference after next season and bring their final rankings with them. If Utah wallops Cal, it will probably move up to around #18. BYU will be around #11, BSU around #9 and TCU #2 (if Cincy loses to Florida).
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

BSU has played about the same this year, while TCU has upped their play by many levels.

Here is the difference as I see it. BYU could compete and continues to compete with established programs, but even with a team as talented as BYU is this year, TCU stands apart in the MWC. BSU would compete well in the MWC; but TCU will still beat them this year. If BSU wins, I will consider it a major upset.
