What he said. I don't know how we have reached the point that disappointment can be elicited by the whims of 17-19 kids.

I realize that recruiting is important, but Whittingham doesn't give up when he loses a recruit. He just finds another kid that is pretty much from the same mold as the one he lost. What's important is how a kid progresses in his time at any respective school. We'll never know what the U lost and the Y gained until Quezada is at the end of career, so why worry about it?

How many teams start nothing but freshman anyway? These kids may have looked good against high school competition, but they've never played one down of college ball and will be facing players who were just as good as they were in high school.

I don't hate you PU. I just think your reflexive negativity is pathological. You were bitching about the Utes basketball all through the Majerus golden years.

This list may add a little perspective.

BYU is rated no. 30 and Utah 49, but BYU has 27 commits and Utah has 14, about half as many. Rivals bases its rankings on total points. Utah's average rating (per commit) is higher. Utah is ranked higher than TCU (TCU has 12 commits). Utah's RB (all-purpose) commit received an offer from Missouri, with the 14th rated class. Utah has signed the 14th ranked dual threat qb in the nation. Lower rated dual threats include commits at Texas, Miami, Florida, and Michigan. Utah also has a dual threat qb commit that backed out of a commit to Kansas. Utah's two most highly rated recruits are wide recievers offered by multiple Big 12, Pac 10, and Big 10 teams. They are both rated among the top 250 recruits in the country.

This recruiting class is much improved over even 2-3 years ago.

For BYU, this is the year to cash in, with Heaps, a genuine blue chipper and legacy signee in the bag since he was a newborn, attracting a bunch of other recruits. We see the results. Pretty much what we usually see plus Heaps.

Talent plus execution. You've got both, SU.

Also, SU why didn't you use Scout's rankings?

Utah's class this year, post BCS bowl win, seems to be no better than last year's. In terms of average rankings and team rankings, Utah looks destined to be at or slightly below what they were ranked last year.

This was supposed to be the payoff year.

I'm starting to think this is as well as Utah is going to recruit.

Meanwhile, I TCU and BYU really appear to be making hay and will probably have their best recruiting seasons ever.

With a full year of recruiting in Texas with a BCS win to tout, i'll be TCU is better next year in recruiting, too.

Has Utah hit it's recruiting glass ceiling?
Yes, they have. For now at least.

If Utah were to get a BCS conference invite, then their recruiting would improve. Let us not forget that the University of Utah is still in Utah.

TCU has nosed ahead of Utah only because Utah's 14th player hasn't yet been rated. I'm sure he's worth something. This also lowers Utah's GPA to 2.93, when once the guy gets rated it will be over 3.0. Utah's GPA is still higher than BYU's even with one 0.
