There was a BYU fan near me (I swear he was drunk...) who was running the "PAC 10 <insert BCS conference of choice when we're beating them> sucks" smack. A couple of OSU fans weren't any better--insisting BYU couldn't do anything in the PAC 10. Made me laugh a little. Down 30 points (and they were at the time) isn't the time to run that line.Originally posted by TheBYUGuy View PostHave there been any strange comments in the last 12 hours about how BYU can't compete with middle-tier Pac-10 teams?
I pointed out that our 3rd place team lost to their champ by a touchdown. On the road.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Did it change any of perceptions of him? That isn't meant to be a sarcastic question, you have always been very honest in your reservations about Max (many of which proved to accurate this season). However, I think with last nights win Max will be remembered very favorable in years to come.Originally posted by JohnnyLingo View PostMajor props to Hall for a great game. He played very well, especially considering the wind. Great way for him to close out his career as a Cougar.

What not to like about Max Hall. I love the fire in him and he has done things most QB's have not done at BYU. He will be missed... But being an Az guy. I am a little Biased...Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostDid it change any of perceptions of him? I've been critical of Hall. Maybe not as vocally as some here, but I didn't feel like he progressed at all from sophomore to senior. I also feel like he had more skill position talent around him than any QB in BYU history. That said.....I appreciate what he accomplished this year. I appreciate that he seemed to learn that he didn't have to win games himself. The end of last season was frustrating because he single handedly lost games trying to do too much. The last couple of games he managed the games very well. Not his best performances stat wise, but smart football. With that my biggest complaint that he didn't seem to improve is diminished, my worthless opinion has changed some. He is a winner and I will now gladly eat some humble pie.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostDid it change any of perceptions of him? In all honesty, not really.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostDid it change any of perceptions of him? Oregon State's pass defense was ranked 87th for the 2009 season (before the bowl).
Hall is great against middling defensive teams and struggles against good-to-great passing defenses.
Still, I give him a lot of credit for playing a great game in difficult circumstances.

Looks like BYU had 42 unearned points in the game:

LOL. I was reading over there a bit and there are some great meltdown posts. My in-laws are huge Beavers fans. Last night's win was that much sweeter knowing I got scoreboard over my FIL and BIL. Actually my FIL called early in the week and said he was disappointed with the LV Bowl. He said he thought both schools deserved a better bowl than that crap.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostLooks like BYU had 42 unearned points in the game:

I also noticed that the OSU fan base resembled Wyoming. Lots of real tree camo and hunter orange in the stands."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Well it is a fact that we cannot "compete" with mid-tier Pac 10 Teams. We usually beat themOriginally posted by TheBYUGuy View PostHave there been any strange comments in the last 12 hours about how BYU can't compete with middle-tier Pac-10 teams?
