  • Rose Bowl thread Oregon vs. Ohio State

The Ducks and Buckeyes had two common opponents this year:

    USC (9-3):
    9/12 @ tOSU, USC 18-15
    10/31 @ Oregon, Oregon 47-20

    Purdue (5-7):
    9/12 @ Oregon, Oregon 38-36
    10/17 vs. tOSU, Purdue 26-18

Oregon won both, tOSU lost both.

Also note that tOSU put up 265 yards on USC while Oregon put up 613. tOSU managed 10 first downs while Oregon had 31; and tOSU had 2.9 yards per rush while Oregon had 8.0.

I would expect Tressel to have the Buckeyes ready to play. He needs a bowl win, and he is likely selling to his team that Oregon is not very good and Ohio State can launch a great 2010 season with a win over an all-hype Oregon team in the ROSE BOWL GAME.

I am hoping to catch a couple Ohio State games on B10 network or Classic. I didn't really pay attention to them other than highlights and the SC game. The fact that Pryor appears to be unable to throw the ball gives me a big sigh of relief as that is Oregon's biggest weakness is pass D.

It's all we have, but ultimately they are poor comparisons. That is like saying Oregon's offense sucks because Utah St moved the ball better against Boise than Oregon did. tOSU, since that Purdue game, has been a different team.

Also fwiw those are tOSU's only two losses. They had nice wins against Penn State, Iowa, and rival Michigan in consecutive weeks.

While I agree that tOSU has been a different team since Purdue, it stinks that they have a six-week layoff until the bowl game. Every year, teams that finish red hot have to play this retarded waiting game. Last year Oklahoma went from being the highest scoring team in history to scoring only 14 points, while Texas just looked plum bored against the Buckeyes in Tempe.

I couldn't agree more about the layoff. It's ridiculous.

The Big 1eleven0 always finishes their games the week before Thanksgiving. The SEC, Pac 10, and Big XII play into the first weekend in December. Is it any wonder why Ohio State is always so crappy in bowl games? Well, at least this is one factor.
