Actually, I think you have to see the clip, examine Hall's body language to really appreciate what is going on there. He was not emotional. He was shit eatin' grinning like a seventeen year old kid. he puked out the words all stilted and clipped like he didn't mean them. It's sad and undignified, really; here's a guy who won more games than any other BYU quarterback in history, but lost all his biggest games (unless you still hold out for Oklahoma, and even then OK's Heisman quarterback was hurt and it was an weak offensive game for both sides). It's a proven fact those guys don't have the same mission as a university ought to have vis-a-vis these kids. A university cares about other dimensions of their character than their ability to entertain. If Max Hall were staking his whole future on his ability to do that he'd wind up outside LES toothless and begging for alms with a sign, "help out a Cougar qb vet and Ute hater."
