There is a very real contractual agreement in place for several more years. The BCS can tweak its formula, but it cannot simply abandon its format and move to a playoff system. Or can it?

True, but the big boys better get used to having to deal with a Ute program that is a major player in the college football world. We are not going to be decimated this year like we were in 2004... Next year we reload (I say we even finish 1 or 2 in the conference) and make another bcs run in 2010 or 2011.

Who does Utah have returning next year? I really think that the loss of BJ will be huge for Utah, then again I seem to be very shitty when it comes to predictions so they may very well win a national championship for all I know.

Unless I'm mistaken, he's not talking about the BCS. He's talking about rankings, perception, prestige. As much as the headlines want to shout about this hearkening a new era, this really changes very little. You'll see the same top ten next year that you saw last year. Even LSU, in spite of an abysmal season this year, will be top seven or so.
