One of us likes to dress like a pirate to go with the pirate ship he created; most all fans (and players) flash the U with our hands; BYU is our rival, Colorado is a manufactured rival by the conference; the only people who think we are hawks are those politically correct pinheads who have decided that we need an alternative mascot so as to not offend the Ute tribe, despite the fact that the Ute tribe has no problem with the school calling themselves the Utes.

What's the deal with pirates? I thought you guys were Utes. But you're also hawks. And now pirates?

Fun stealers. It is all about fun. He likes dressing up as a pirate. Big deal. (He is also one hell of a talented carpenter if anybody is looking - did a beautiful job on my brother's kitchen, dining room, and deck remodel)

In other news, up here we have a HUGE contingent of weekend pirates who put on the regalia for parades, etc, starting back in 1949. At Seafair they 'land' on the shores of Alki Beach in a Higgens boat to officially begin Seafair. They also have a WWII-era DUKW done up like a pirate ship for the parades. A DUKW is the ultimate bad-ass vehicle.
