Perhaps, the thing I'm most proud of in my ward, is getting rid of the whole 24th celebration (we do a 4th of July party instead). I live in WA, I never quite figured out why I need to celebrate the 'landing' of the saints in Utah. Other than one older sister, I have had zero complaints with the cease and desist order.
No. Stakes in Utah are assigned from the Utah Area Presidency on a rotating basis to do a float in the Pioneer Day parade. Beyond that, it is up to each individual ward whether or not to do something on the 24th. Few wards in Utah do things on the 24th because it is a state holiday and lots of families travel on vacation and such.

By the way, what is up with Washington not having any state holidays that aren't federal holidays? Don't the citizens of your great state have anything special and unique to your state to commemorate? Heck, even the nitwit Californians have Cesar Chavez day.

But as you look back on these experiences and reflect on what you've accomplished, you find yourself most proud of getting rid of a 24th of July activity. Sounds like you're doing a great job there, Bishop.
I also make sure we have fantastic Christmas parties. We have a rock band, made up of stake members. They are actually quite good, play a nice selection of Christmas carols and modern classic rock pieces. I always find Bob Segar, Modest Mouse, and Jingle Bells help me feel the true Christmas season. I also smoke pork loins on mine and another member's Traegers for the Christmas party.

Smoked pork, rock, and no Pioneer floats = a successful tenure.

      • This is the lost and found "hat box" at my son's school. It's sad when a kid has to pretend to lose a hat to keep his dad off of his back.

This is what I assume happened; there really couldn't be any other explanation.

          That's a Yale hat.

I see a Utah sweatshirt at the bottom of the pile. Symbolic, really.

You're right. Both are excellent academic institutions with historic athletics.

I was there man. I rummaged through those childrens lost belongings myself, and I can unequivocally state that there was no Utah gear in the pile.

Its sad when someone is so down on their luck that they've got to rummage through a kids' lost and found looking for something to wear.

Just because some other down-on-their-luck Ute fan beat you to it.
