Yes. A pretty good photoshop. The extended phalanges are a dead give away.

          • I will settle the argument as to if Utah stole calling itself "the U" from the University of Miami:

It didn't. If anything, Miami stole it from Utah.

This link tells how in 1973 the University of Miami started to call itself "the U"

This link, from the University of Utah archives show that back in 1913 the football team called themselves "the U men" (scroll down to page 149)

Utah is the U. Miami is not.

                The 30 For 30 documentary The U.

The point being, The U is Miami to everyone in America except for University of Utah fans.

You might as well be telling them that Mormons aren't the only ones that baptize by immersion.

                        • I think the original argument was over the U hand signal. I have been told my many a Utah fan that the hand signal was originally use by the UofU gymnastic team in the early 80s. I do think that is revisionist history to try and justify it. I grew up in the salt lake valley. My mother's family are all die hard Utes. I even went to a couple of Utah home games with my cousins. I never remember seeing the U hand signal used once. But even if it was used by the gymnastics team in the early 80s, it wasn't used on a large scale or even recognized by the Utah fanbase. the current incarnation of the hand signal started in the early 2000s by the gymnastics team. From there it was picked up by the other sports and by the fans. I don't blame the female gymnastics team for the hand signal. They probably thought they were coming up with something original. The football fans should have known better.

Yeah, no one is arguing about that. I would disagree with Sandy that "the U" means University of Miami to everybody outside Utah. In Seattle, someone once referred to the University of Washington as "the U."

No, the point being that Utah was calling itself the U for many years before the University of Miami existed.
