Oklahoma State was able to ride the coattails of the Big 12 South (whose prowess perhaps remains to be proven). In the end, though, OSU ended up in a three-way tie for fourth in the conference, tied with Missouri and Nebraska.

I don't think you can say they were riding the coattails of the Big 12 south. Okie St. is a good football team. They played Texas extremely close and hung with the Sooners until the 4th quarter. They are a very good football team and are set up well to compete for the Big 12 title next year with a lot of there top players returning.

Oklahoma State has only won one conference title since 1953, and even that one was before I was born. If the Pokes were in the North, then yes, I'd say they could win the division and compete for the title next year. But as it is, OSU will have much the same year they did this year. They'll finish third in the south, and probably fourth overall. Texas, on the other hand, is going to kick ---.

I could be wrong, of course, but I've been watching the Oklahoma State program for a long time. Even in years when everything is in their favor, they just aren't able to break through to the next level.
