P.S. A response of "anyone would be an improvement over Hill" would be an example of EPIC FAIL.

Before I roll up my pants and do a merry jig about the alleged impending departure of Hill, I would like to know who the replacement is.Originally posted by falafel View Postwhat does that mean? And how would we know?

I have no idea.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostSo these are likely candidates?
I'd just like to see BYU go after a Secondary Position coach w/ experience at a good Div. 1 program with a good Defense. Both these guys are young, have recruiting ties to Texas, and come from a great Defensive program.
BYU is on the precipice of bringing in their greatest recruiting class ever and recruits are starting to waiver because the current DC can't help but deuce on his current players for motivation purposes.

Undoubtedly there are better candidates out there. Pick any number of NFL DCs. The real question is whether or not one fits the BYU profile:Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostDo you not think they can find someone better to take that job?
1. LDS or non-LDS that will fit into BYU's environment
2. Views the BYU DC position as no worse than a lateral career move
3. Views BYU's compensation as fair
4. Is an improvement over the current DC
I know some people have been whispering about how giddy they would be to get Kalani Sitake, but that choice would be odd to say the least and would be a significant leap of faith because his body of work is limited at best.

Anae has a testimony. He won't leave the Y.Originally posted by OrangeUte View PostWhat about Anae going to unlv? But it will improve as the year goes on. I think Tyler Beck and Ogletree will be far more talented than the MLBs of the past two years. They will make mistakes due to a lack of experience early but as they get reps their natural ability will shine through. DE will be a huge issue but I think the kids will be capable, perhaps not as talented as this years duo, but still talented. In fact I would propose that the upgrade in talent at MLB will be greater than the downgrade in talent at DE.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostYou are correct that all the pieces aren't there. I am a firm believer that there are many that would do better with this D. There are some pieces there. They just aren't being used correctly.
I think that 2010's D will be even worse than this year. 2011 is when things will get better.
I expect the defense to be pretty similar to this year.
Editiorial comment: I don't think the BYU defense has played very poorly this year. It had some real shitty moments against SDSU and TCU and a real crappy game from top to bottom against FSU. Other than that, I believe they have played pretty decent ball. It will be good for this fanbase when Hall et all graduate and move on. Clearly this defense is not good enough to carry BYU next year as the offense is maturing, but I believe the defense has improved a great deal from last year and is likely to hold this level next year. I do agree with HL that starting in 2011 it has enough pieces to actually be a good D1 defense.Last edited by Goatnapper'96; 11-20-2009, 07:34 AM.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Wait, do you mean gone as in "I'm leaving" or gone as in "you're leaving"?Originally posted by Raketemensch View PostI heard from someone who would know that Jaime is gone after this season, no matter how the last few games turn out.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. My guess is that it is a mixture of the two. There is power in change for no other reason than it is change.Originally posted by falafel View PostWait, do you mean gone as in "I'm leaving" or gone as in "you're leaving"?Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

That's the gist of what I heard. I know the fan criticism, egging stuff irked him quite a bit (he's a proud dude, as are most coaches and people who have put so much time and effort into their craft and teaching it).Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostMy guess is that it is a mixture of the two.
