Why don't you show me what I said that was condescending? You forget that I attended the U for law school, grew up outside of Utah, and live in the Avenues. I don't have the ingrained Utah hatred of many of my BYU brethren. Hell, I was in the MUSS in the '04 season for every home game! I'm pleased with what the U has done and I'm impressed with the development of their program into a regional power flirting with a national reputation. Your own issues destroy your objectivity. The real problem with you is that you are intelligent and can think objectively about many things. As a result, you think you know what people are saying even when they aren't. I think that Utah has turned the corner to being consistently a good team. This has to do with Utah being in the top 3 talent-wise in the conference(i can't throw AFA in that group even though they are a tough out for everyone). When you have superior talent, you can cover for inexperience, bad days, and flat performances better than when your talent is level. The Air Force game is a perfect example. The fly boys won that game everywhere except the scoreboard. Utah was able to win because a fumble bounced nicely to Wide and because David Reed was a superior athlete to anyone on Air Forces Roster(Defensively at least). That was a game Utah would have lost in 1995-2002 and 2005-2007.
I understand IPU's concern that he would like to see next year before proclaiming that Utah is over the hump, but i would go back to 2007 as the first signal that we were progressing as a program. They were 1-3 with 0-2 in conference after 4 games. they could have rolled over and finished 6-6(or worse) that year, but bounced back for a good season. Precisely. I think that Utah should have and would have been in the National Championship game last year if they had been ranked in the top 25 in '07 and either ranked or close to it in '06. Consistently being in the public's eye can make up for a loss or two a year and then springboard a team to higher heights on the good year.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View Post
I'm especially impressed with KW's ability to get his team to win on off days. As you say, it isn't that long ago that Utah would not have found a way to win the AFA game. Utah is getting team's best efforts this year (see the SJSU game as example) and are still getting the wins that are hard to get in those circumstances. Best of all, they are doing it with first year QBs at the helm. The Ute program is maturing, in my opinion.Comment
