  • My Thought About Laramie

The trip to Laramie was fun. We ended up staying at the Fairfield with a ton of other Cougar fans.

I have always been told what a shit hole Laramie is. It is. Outside of the Fairfield, I didn't see a nice building in the whole town.

I have always been told that the people, especially the fans, are rude and obnoxious. They weren't. I found them to be nice and hospitable.

The stadium and it's facilities are horrible. The troughs in the bathrooms are a nice touch. The whole place had a county fair type of feel.

Me too. The reputation Wyoming fans have seems greatly exagerrated and undeserved. It was both dissapointing and a relief. The Wyoming fans I talked to were far less annoying than most BYU fans I sit by at LES. I had a good time.

You know what your problem is? You go through life without looking at the world through persecution goggles. Jeez first you try to say a friendly hello to the cheerleaders on Friday, and now this.

You'll never make it as a latter-day Mormon. At this rate you won't be prescribed your first Prozac before age 60.

These are some pretty amazing accounts about the WYO fans. I can't imagine how painful that must have been to get crushed like that at home.

I have always had a lot of respect for fans of schools who realistically have no chance of ever winning anything noteworthy. I don't say that to be condescending to Wyoming or any other school. Heck, I'm a huge fan of a podunk 1-AA school that no one gives a crap about, and I follow them religiously.

I think it's pretty cool that there are people loyal enough to continue showing up, clad in their school colors week after week, knowing that more often than not, they're going to get their heart ripped out. That's the kind of vibe I got from Wyo fans: solid.

This deserves a big You spent too much time on CB last 2 weeks.

No onside kicks when up 40+ makes opposing fans right agreeable.
                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Actually I have spent zero time on CB the last two weeks.

But I was sitting in LES two weeks ago, watching my Cougars get destroyed. I tried to retain a sense of humor, but it was a struggle.

I wonder how empty LES and RES would be if multiple 40+ losses occurred in a given year. Maybe Landpoke is right, they are better fans.

I don't know about RES, but to hear a lot of BYU fans, the seats in LES would still be full. At BYU fans pack the stadium because their support has a lot more meaning than just winning football games.

I had the same thought at SDSU. There weren't a lot of fans but the ones that were there were loud and loyal. That would be awfully hard to do.

One only needs to look at the McBride era to see how empty the stands were at RES and I don't think there were any 40+ losses. At least I can't think of any.

All it would take is one losing season for Utah and all the zoots would freak then crawl back under the rocks from whence they came. Losing the zoots would be a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, it will take losing to do it.

being quite ignorant on the topic, what was attendance like an RES during 2002-2004?
