If booing or criticizing the players is assault, I am definitely guilty of assault.

What good does it do to yell at the wife of a player? I'm not sure I get that move.

Our problems aren't really at QB. TCU and FSU put up all those points on our defense, not our QB.

I'm calling bullshit on Franchuk. That dude has taken his fair share of abuse from BYU fans (and rightfully so, IMO) and it sounds like he jumped at the chance to stab back. Notice he doesn't report about what was said (i.e. were the attacks directed toward her, or directed toward Max within earshot of her?) but keeps it vague enough to allow the reader to infer much worse than was likely the case.

The irony i find is that JanJo's parents are probably as pissed as anybody at the coaching staff, considering how poorly he has been utilized these past two years.

I try very hard to never boo or criticize players. I perform at a higher level when it comes to this. However, because of that I don't consider myself to be a better person than someone who chooses to do so.

The reason I don't. I figure if they are there, they are the best we got. If someone is doing the best they can, why would I boo that effort. Heck, with all Bronco's comments about lack of execution, he is criticizing players as much as fans do.

On the other hand when it comes to the coaches,. they are getting paid and I don't remember sustaining them in general conference.

I agree, if the fans were just within earshot of Max's wife that's one thing. If they were actually arguing with her that is something totally wrong. I have a hard time believing that fans would actually argue with Max's wife while knowing who she is. I'm calling BS on that.

I think the coaches are drawing criticism to themselves when they comment on the fans. I like Bronco Mendenhall, but some of his comments about fans are starting to get me down. Just let it pass. If you beat Utah the fans will be happy and content for another year. If we get blown out by Utah this year though, watch out!

To me I'm frustrated this year, because I know how good we can be and I don't see us achieving that point.

Agreed. It is however fair game, in my opinion for fans to express their displeasure for coaches who are unprepared and players who are unmotivated.

Given our talent level, we should be around a 9-3 team ranked around 20th. I'm not sure why people think we should be doing better than we are.

With your talent level you should beat teams like Florida State.

If this is true to the way it was spun it's deplorable. If I were sitting near Max's wife witnessing this type of abuse I'd probably get hauled out of the stadium for whooping some ass.

On the flip side I do not have a problem with someone wondering out loud whether a QB change (or any position change for that matter) would help things. A family member, spouse, or friend of a player or coach needs to have thick skin in these instances or not attend the game. Also I agree that anyone who wants Nelson to sub for Max is nuts. (That's coming from a Nelson fan.)

Hill needs to lighten up. Of all people he shouldn't be calling out anyone.

Jan has gone from AA status to ..... who? I'm sure his family blames that on Bronco and the coaching staff. According to BYU's site: Freshman: 5 sacks. Sophomore: 14 sacks; Top 10 in country. Junior: 5 sacks. Senior: ?

I'm sure he is not pleased with that. The way teams throw on BYU, he probably believes he would be more useful as a pass rusher than gap filler.

I agree. This year BYU beat one team they shouldn't have, OU, and lost to one they shouldn't have. I still don't think TCU should have beaten BYU as bad as they did but taking Mendenhall's entire work to date he is doing about as much with BYU as Edwards. The biggest difference is that there are now 3 good conference programs instead of 1.5.

My guess is that most BYU fans are more concerned about not being mentally prepared or tough and lack of preparation for the big games.

When talking about "football talent", Florida St has 5x the "football talent" BYU does.
