UNM isn't going to prepare him for TCU.

True, but taking the first team snaps in practice for the next two weeks can't hurt. Utah does have the nation's #16 defense, and is 6-1 against TCU.

Look, I'm not bagging on the decision to put in Wynn. I don't know enough about either one of them to comment. I'm just saying that that alone doesn't make me yearn for Witt. In fact, I think it's a (small) strike against him that this stuff isn't ironed out by now. If you're gonna burn a redshirt, do it early. UNM isn't going to prepare him for TCU.

I think many BYU fans are yearning for Whit. His teams never give up. He does not accept giving up. His teams seem to be mentally tough. Someone told me that the defense's motto is 'fast and nasty'. What is BYU's motto. Motto's don't win games but they tend to set the standard.

I don't even think it was Cain's fault. The offensive line is playing like shit. They have, what? 5 or 6 false starts? We had two guys jump on one particular play. Cain is getting buried by 3 man rushes. Our center snapping it over his head.

Even Wynn couldn't get the ball in the end zone after our line jumps and moves the ball back 5 yards when we had 3rd and goal.

This is sad.

I think it's execution. The new OC has not got the guys playing whatever system he has set up. Have you noticed that receivers run idiotic routes? Like on a 3rd and 8, running a hook (or dig) route past the first-down marker and turning back to catch the ball 6 yards out, where he is promptly tackled? O-linemen constantly jumping and turning 3rd and 3 into 3rd and 8? Drives me nuts. The players don't know how to execute, not sure why.

Good game and very heartening for me given my boy DC is playing with mostly D1-AA players left him by the previous admin.

I can't wait for tomorrow.

The number of false starts for a home game was out of this world. They looked like they'd never played a down together as a team at times.

Whit has said all season that the plan was to use Wynn, they were just looking for the opportunity. It looks like they found it, he'll probably be the starter and we may see a "Cain package" although I gotta say, of the guys that played QB tonight, Cain looked like he'd be third on a depth chart of Wynn, Christopher, and Cain.

I'm not terribly worried about the redshirt year. Cain wasn't going to be the guy and that was becoming increasingly obvious as the season went on. Might as well get Wynn some solid experience going into next year.

I don't care about Wynn's redshirt if the coaches feel he gives us the best chance to win a MWC title this year. If this messes up our QB situation for 2013, we can deal with it then. But it's 2009 right now, and we have the chance to repeat as conference champs. Nevermind the statement "burning his redshirt" is a misnomer because it's still available to him.

As for the game, nothing will come easy to this team. That's been apparent since week one. Our receivers behind Reed are sorely lacking; our offensive line still makes stupid mistakes; the kicking game is average; and Wright/Gaison haven't improved much from last year.

All that said, with the bowl game we do no worse than 10-3, and that makes me happy.
