Why would you expect change next year? There was no change this year.

I was going under Goat's suggestion that Bronco will make changes, but does not like to just make knee jerk changes. Which if that is the case is much better for long term program stability. Bronco has shown to make changes from one season to the next that have helped the team, so I tend to agree with Goat on that point.

Knee jerk = running the football when you are getting 5-7 yards per carry. So is every halftime adjustment made by other coaches considered knee jerk?

Sorry, every good coach makes changes during halftime, during the course of the season.....not after the season.

Saying all that the one thing about Mendenhall that I respect most is his humility. Detractors will call him arrogant because most detractors are Utes and have a Pavlovian response that all things BYU are arrogant. As I view Mendenhall he is a guy that makes changes after closely analyzing what went wrong. I think he realized that some things were wrong throughout the year, but he isn't the type of guy to make knee jerk reactions. He rode what got him to where he was and now he will change the parts he thinks went awry.

Ute fans see arrogance in Mendenhall because of his approach to football. Not practicing the full amount allowed could be seen as thinking that practice isn't needed because he feels his team is superior.

Perhaps arrogant is the wrong description for a coach who decided to only practice his team 6 of a possible 14 times to prepare for the bowl game. (Is it true that he rarely practiced with pads all season?) Perhaps idiotic would be better?
