I did grow up accustomed to that feeling. Gratefully, it's something that's far less common now.

The satisfaction of winning. That desire to win is either something you have or you don't, it can't be taught. People used to losing, say things like "what do you get if you win?" So the good news is that despite 5-6 years of winning you still know how to be a loser! In a strange way that makes you a winner.
