Jan had 8 tackles, 1 sack, 2 TFLs, 1 forced fumble, and got a hand on that pass on 4th down so 1 pass breakup.

He's by far our best D-Lineman and probably our best player on defense overall. He's the most grossly misused player I've ever seen at BYU. He's got to be beyond frustrated.

Hall has definitely been a disappointment thus far.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Both of those picks were bad, in fact the first one was horrible he eyed down the receiver the whole time and that safety just slowly drifted over, that is a highschool mistake. The second one was just a poor throw and decision. However you live with those mistakes when he makes throws like the deep ball on a rope to Ashworth for a TD and those corner routes to Pitta.

Defense played great tonight, Jan was phenomenal for those that dont pay that much attention to individual matchups go back and watch the game and pay attention to Jan, when he is lined up on the outside he is dominant. When he moves inside he is still very good but is double teamed more often. Overall though he was awesome including forcing a 3 and out by himself.
I think you are right for the most part about Unga...although I think if TCU wins the conference, Andy Dalton could win OPOY.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I feel sorry for him. He should be getting Kruger and Hughes like attention, and probably would if Hill knew what he was doing.

I don't get what 4-5 losses next year will change about that. These last 3 good season came on the heels for 4 really crappy ones. So Bronco having his second bad year next year will somehow change the fan base to appreciate winning?

                hall = feterik

that's a lot better than engemann, covey et al, but hall is not a legend or anything close thereto

Jury is still out for me. I haven't seen enough to feel confident we will run the table. Also, we aren't playing bad enough for me to think we can't. My feelings are the same about Hall. From my perspective, I can't make what I would call an educated guess at what happens against TCU and Utah.

Bronco's style and philosophy might be what keeps us from really putting a whallopping on a team like USU and give me the confidence I had after we hammered UCLA.

If foced to go out on a limb, I say we run the table. Not because of what I see from the team, but what I see from the fans.

Max Hall is likely on his way to another crappy 10-win season. We won again last night by more than 20 points.

You guys are out of your minds. Maybe Max would play better if the fans were not so crappy. Dead silent in the stadium again last night. Embarrassing.

When will be the next time we have a team that wins 10 games several seasons in a row?

While I am sympathetic to the gist of your post, the atmosphere at LES isn't condusive to excitement when BYU is comfortably ahead of a team like USU.

Also, you won't mind if I don't select you in a math contest.

                        35 - 17 = win by more than 20.

Utah beat Utah State by more than 20 points as well.

Exactly. Hall will have won 10 games each year that he was the starter. BYU will have been ranked in the top 15 each of his years and in the top 10 two of those seasons. While Hall is prone to throw INTs, he also makes a lot of big plays because of his guts. With Hall you take the good with the bad. You know what you are going to get, and it is 250+ passing yards, likely 3 TDs and an INT or two.

Is Hall a perfect QB? No. He makes mistakes. He is still locking on to receivers and it costs him. His arm isn't the strongest. But he's pretty accurate, and he's a fiery competitor. I like that characteristic in a QB. I can't pin the FSU loss on Hall, but he does deserve a lot of credit for the Oklahoma win. Had you told me at the beginning of the year that BYU is 4-1, I would have taken it. Hall's rating for the year is 155.7, good for 20th in the NCAA. And with the MWC schedule coming up, it should only climb. He also has completed nearly 70% of his passes and is currently 3rd in the NCAA in passing yards. Yes, he also leads the NCAA in INTs, but he is also 3rd in TD passes. The fact that BYU has achieved back-to-back-to-back-to-back 10 win seasons is awesome, especially considering where the program was 6 years ago.

I'll miss Hall, because he has done a good job coming in and keeping the momentum going. I will also say that I feel we have won more games because of Hall (Utah '07, OU '09, CSU '08, etc.) than we have lost because of him (Utah '08, TCU '08).

My mistake. You guys are right. We are in for another awful season. 10 wins will be horrible.

Hopefully Max will leave quickly after this season and we can go back to our old winning ways, when we were racking up 12-13 wins a year, dominating our way into the big bowl games, and contending for national championships. Max is holding us back. He's holding back our stellar squad of blue chip athletes. He is causing our usually-rabid fanbase to become apathetic.

Jake Heaps will be the answer. If his game against Oaks Christian was any indication, we can all pencil in a national title right now. Ute fans, you might as well not even show up to the rivalry game.

Amen. And he can still finish this season with 12 wins. That would really solidify has status as a disappointment and the second coming of Feterik. That would put him at 33-6 as a starter at BYU. Absolutely unacceptable.

                                33-6. lol.

it is ridiculous that anyone is even having this discussion.

I will give byu fans their due....they seem to have become USC-lite fans. "We didn't win by 40 points! and the team made some mistakes. we suck!"

if people are waiting for the game in which Max Hall makes zero errors, it is going to be a long wait.

I remember back in the day when fans in Cougar Stadium were chanting for LaVell to put in Tom Young. lol. My, how quickly we forget.
