    Sean Smith is good

He is really good. I watched the game late last night. I was so impressed with Sean Smith. He is going to be an All Pro very very soon.

I wish him all the success in the world, but I can't help but think that it would have been nice to see him with the Utes this year.

It would be nice for Ute fans. I think though that everyone has learned, this year especially, you take the money when you can get it.

But from his perspective, there was no reason to stay at Utah. Can't really blame him.

He absolutely did the right thing. I'm happy for the kid.

I agree. Also, I would like to see a raise of hands of everyone who thought Smith would be starting CB his rookie year even 1 year ago. He has really developed and progressed beyond anyones expectations.

I haven't followed the NFL for many years to know about how good the rest of the CBs in Miami are, but I believe that Smith was underrated simply because he played at Utah.

Word. The DL sure could have used Kruger and Newman last week.

Not sure if I thought it exactly a year ago but by the end of the season I did.

I have always seen him as an NFL caliber player, but not as a corner. I thought his future was at safety. He is going to be very good playing corner for Miami. He still makes a few rookie mistakes but he has serious potential.

While I agree that he was underrated, I don't know of any Utah fans that predicted(as of 9/2008) he would be where he is right now.

Mormon Red Death and I saw him in street clothes after the Sugar Bowl. I already knew about his speed but was blown away by the guy's size.

This isn't a knock on Utah or Sean Smith, but doesn't this sudden improvement over one year and this hulking body with 4.4 speed make you a tad suspicious?
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

FWIW, the ultimate "I know everything" poster TopUte/SoCalPat thought Whittingham and Anderson were idiots for giving Sean Smith a starting spot in 2007.

Agreed. I didn't have any idea that he would have had the type of season that would convince him to declare himself eligible for the draft after last year. I always figured he'd have a shot in the NFL as a safety, but only after 4 years of college ball.
