    Top 4 NFL QB's...

So Drunk Tank and I were in a heated discussion on the way into work this morning.

So we figured we would turn to the CUF for some answers...

If you had to pick who were the top 4 QB's in the NFL right now who would they be?

Not going to influence the poll here with any names our my opinion yet, just taking the pulse of the group.

That is just off the top of my head if I were going to be drafting for this year only.

I don't think anyone can touch your top 3 and I can't think of anyone to displace Rivers at #4.

If San Diego knew what they had in Brees at the time of the 2004 draft, who would they have picked instead of Manning (trade with NY Giants for Rivers and next year's #1)? Would it have been Robert Gallery who has been a bust at tackle but is now serviceable at guard? Or would they have picked Larry Fitzgerald.

I'm sure San Diego is happy with how things turned out because I think they turned the picks they got from the Giants in addition to Phillip Rivers into Shawne Merriman and Nate Kaeding- however- you have to wonder what that team would be like with Brees and Fitzgerald, holy cow.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Wow I had no idea that Phillip Rivers had that kind of year.

Big Ben is not a great QB. He benefits enormously from playing with a great run game and a great defense.

                No Aaron Rogers?

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I think I remember the talk at the time being between Manning and Robert Gallery, and there were many who thought they should have taken Gallery instead of Manning/Rivers, based on need.

I would replace Ben and McNabb with Jay Cutler.

Tough to argue with that list.

But you should account for the fact that he has one of the worst pass protecting O-lines in the NFL.

I watched the first quarter and a half of the preseason game against the Giants, last night on NFL Network. He looked real good. He made an amazing throw on the run. Hester thought that it wasn't going to get to him so he slowed down and missed the pass. The dude out threw Devin Hester on a fly route, out of a bootleg, on one leg

As any true gun slinger, he throws a lot of interceptions and wild passes. I think that he is happy in the Windy City and is as good as a situation as you can be in Chicago. The locals are touting him as the biggest talent to come to Chicago since Jordan. I am not sure how I feel about that, but it will be fun to watch how he progresses.

FWIW, as a Raiders fan, I am grateful for the Denver brass making the move to get Cutler out of Denver

Cutler is a top 5 QB talent-wise but he doesn't produce the results.
