    Shaq Vs.

Anyone else catch this last night? For some reason I found it very entertaining. I am looking forward to future episodes.

I found it lame and highly contrived.

I also believe that there was no way the show's producers would let Ben lose. He's not seen as that great of a quarterback as it is, and losing to Shaq might hurt his credibility with his teammates.

Take away the possibility, however remote, that Shaq wins and it ceases to be interesting, IMO.

I watched it. It was fun. Shaq is always entertaining.

The show's premise is fairly silly, as there should be absolutely no competition between Shaq and these other specialists. Is anybody really interested in watching Shaq swim against Michael Phelps? I am somewhat intrigued by Shaq playing volleyball, though. Given his height, he can spike the ball every single time with very little effort, so he does have a unique advantage that these pros may not have faced before. Possibly in boxing, as well...although we have already seen pro athletes attempt to box and get beaten soundly....and quickly.

The real value for me is the footage that builds up to the actual competition.....seeing the inside of the Steelers' facility.....seeing Big Ben's house....that sort of thing. The bet to trade Championship rings was fun, too. Watching Shaq mumble his way through a huddle wasn't very interesting.

However, how entirely pathetic that Shaq cannot beat someone in a game of HORSE? That is inexcusable. It really was an embarrassment when they were showing him shooting the ball like the average crappy player on your ward team.

I agree, I enjoyed the first 30 minutes much more than the actual competition. How about Shaq running a 5.8 40 at his size. Or Big Ben mocking his running style I thought that was funny.

Also the vert was pretty remarkable, standing they said he was 9'3, he ended up touching 11'7. 28 inch vert for a man that big is pretty darn good. I am guessing most on here do not have 28 inch verts.

Shaq apparently does have some MMA training under his belt (which I would assume includes some boxing or at least muai thai). He spouted off something or other about actually competing in his Shaqly way, but I am going to guess he was joking, mostly because I'm pretty sure he couldn't make weight.

Shaq is an athlete. Look at how many big men have never made it, let alone excel at it.

His vertical was impressive. I noticed they showed no footage of Ben running a 40 or testing for vert. Undoubtedly part of the agreement with the TV producers. I also noticed that after Shaq successfully completed one 3-step drop, he never correctly did one again.

Not sure what was up with his sideline interception thing. I get that this is a fun competition, but his coming off the side made the game seem like a Harlem Globetrotters thing.

Next week there is some footage of him bitting balls with Serena. Suffice to say that he looks pretty pathetic trying to hit a tennis ball. However, the footage of him spiking the volleyball.....admittedly, interesting. Hermosa/Manhattan is the mecca of beach volleyball so I am interested who they will get to pair up with him for the actual competition.

Wilt was a good volleyball player. Richard Jefferson is supposedly a good one as well.

I should rephrase that. Wilt was good for volleyball. He was a respectable player though.

The sideline interception thing made me laugh because right before it happened he kept saying that he was taking this serious, he wanted to win, he respects the game. Then he does that.

Crap, I really meant to record it and just forgot. I wonder if it is on Hulu.

I like that Shaq is doing this. I missed it last night, but will try to watch in the future. It would be better if a more "normal" sized basketball player did this - Kobe, Wade, LeBron, etc. Shaq is just too big to compete at a very high level in most of these sports (and even his own sport - which is pathetic, per your "HORSE" example). The swimming at his size is going to be a joke. But I'll give him points for doing it. It's a fun idea.

I found it interesting that Shaq mentioned this will keep him in shape during the offseason. If he shows up in Cleveland ready to go, that'll make the whole thing worth it, IMO.

He played Misty May Traynor and Kerri Walsh. His partner was Todd Rogers. Misty was still rehabilitating her torn achilles and Kerri had a baby two or three months ago. At the time of the filming, neither had played a complete tournament this year because of pregnancy and injury. Even so, I bet Shaq gets worked.

Can't wait to see him vs. Phelps...for the splash alone when he jumps in the pool.
