Rasheed Marijuallace to the Celtics

Looks like Rasheed is headed to Bean Town. 2 years, full MLE.

If they stay healthy, that team is pretty freaking solid. It would seem that Orlando and Cleveland are now a distant second or third place in the East. Or am I putting too much stock in Rasheed? I think he is a great addition for Boston.

Top ten talent if only he can keep his head on straight. I think KG keeps him in line and the Celtics make a pretty good run. From what I hear the problem with the Celtics is with Rondo. Rivers has called him uncoachable and it sounds like they tried getting rid of him this summer.

I agree that any Rasheed optimism is always couched in the disclaimer that he has to be on relatively acceptable behavior (not much different than Artest, really). Does this create a logjam at PF for the Celtics? At any rate, Wallace for the MLE is a nice add, I think.

Wallace is a better addition than Shaq, so I would agree.

I think this a huge get for the Celtics. He will be in check with KG and Pierce. He is the modern day Derrick Coleman. All the talent and ability in the world, not big on work ethic. He could have retired as one of the best to play his position, but Sheed just can't find the time to put in some work. Or lose the 'tude.

Either way, Boston has to be favorites to come out of the East, with match up problems for the Lakers.

ESPN the Mag had a great article about Sheed a few years back. I love him. I just wish he had some drive.

This was a good get for the Celtics. He's long. Stretches the floor. A big upgrade over Leon Powe. No wonder they let him walk.

I think I have said this here before, but I will say it again. I used to love Rasheed. He was easily one of my favorite 2-3 players in the NBA. Then I had season tickets for one year to the Blazers. 2002-03 season, and I grew to be unable to stand him. It seemed like everything negative I had ever read about him was true.

I will give him that when he went to Detroit and had to be the 6th banana he was fine, so perhaps the same will be true in Boston. But with the known intensity of KG and Ray, I wonder how many lazy practices and stretches of games they will put up with before there is some locker room tension?

I've said this before, but I don't get this. Rondo was cranking out triple doubles like a machine in the playoffs, was a major cog in their championship in 2008, and the team wants to get rid of him? Rivers calling him uncoachable doesn't really say a lot... Doc's not a great coach, and if Rondo's bad attitude leads to him dropping 15-18-11 on the Magic in the conference semifinals, I don't see what the problem is. I'd get rid of Doc before I let Rondo go.

I don't get it either. Perhaps it's a problem in the lockerroom or in practice. Rondo certainly doesn't play like a dumb player. He's a great defender, rebounder for a PG and he's a pretty good ball handler. The one big knock on him is that he doesn't have much of an outside shot.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I have a hard time finding a lot of players more overated than Rasheed Wallace has been over the last 10 years. Especially at this stage of his career.

I laugh when I listen to the so called "experts" talk about how good of a defender this guy is. Really? I've yet to see him be a one on one lockdown defender at any point in his career.
