Hossa out for the entire 2017-2018 season. I know there is a lot of skepticism that it is cap circumvention, but there is no damn way the Blackhawks could even use the 5.25 million to get a equal value of the DemiGod. There is speculation that it could actually be the end for Hossa.

Anyone who doesn't think Hossa is a HOFer is an idiot. I hope his HOF career doesn't end this way that he is back next season.

The Saad for Panarin deal IMO says that Hossa is absolutely done. He is retired from the NHL and this is what sucks the most about this.

Stepping back I can kind of see why you basically swap out Saad for Panarin. You know that Saad meshes great with Toews. Saad is nowhere near the offensive power of Panarin, but he is a great 2-way player. Saad is team controlled for 3-years more instead of 2-years more. Saad is younger.

Panarin was basically gone in 2 years, because no way we were going to be able to sign him to anything but a bridge deal.

Alright, I've convinced myself. The Saad for Panarin move is a good move. I actually really like this one. Panarin's numbers away from Kane are average at best. We can find someone who can excel with Kane helping them.

Saad is younger, signed for 3 more years, and he works well with Toews. I think the benefit of revitalizing Toews line outweighs anything that we lose with Panarin.

The Hammer deal I have nothing good to say about and will have nothing good to say about it until the end of time. The guy is consistently the most underrated and underappreciated Blackhawk.

Also, I think this opens the way to give DeBrincat a shot at the NHL. You couldn't have brought in another tiny player like him with Kane and Panarin both on the roster. Give DeBrincat the spot that Panarin had with Kane.
