lol! It's funny how hardcore NFL fans are about the same from city to city. Here's the order in which I enjoy attending games:
MLB > NBA > NFL
Here's the order in which I enjoy watching games on TV:
NFL > NBA > MLB
I've only been to 3 NFL games, but I really just don't enjoy attending the games. Granted I haven't had great seats, but I just feel like I'm missing out on a lot of the details of the game when I attend in person. Also the people I have sat around just seem a little unsavory and annoying. Maybe it's just my prudishness from growing up going to every football game at BYU.
I really like attending MLB games -- it's a relaxing experience and I also feel like I get more out of the game in person versus on TV (watching the signs, the adjustments in infield and outfield positioning, etc.).

I'm a huge fan of going to MLB games and have, in fact, planned my next vacation around doing just such a thing. The joy derrived from watching a well played game, ironically enough, is the greatest barrier to entry. You have to have the knowledge and the history to appreciate all that goes on in an MLB game, because of the slow pace. Buying a program and keeping your own scorecard only adds to the experience.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostHere's the order in which I enjoy attending games:

I would also like to put a plug in here for the MLB being the game most suited to the radio format. I used to spend hours upon hours as a kid listening to the games in the evenings on the radio. You really feel like you get to know the announcers and the game plays out beautifully in your head. When I listen to basketball or football games on the radio there is so much more I want to know then what they can tell me and it consequently leaves me with a very incomplete picture.

As you've noted, I detest all pro sports except baseball, which is still in my dog house but trying to work its way out.

I agree with this completely. The Cubs and the Cardinals garnered huge followings across the Midwest based on having fans on the radio. When I lived in St. Louis I talked to farmers who said they listened to every Cardinals game on the radio for decades. On the topic of baseball, I really like this map that shows the geographical location of the respective fanbases. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but the topic of baseball on the radio reminded me of it.Originally posted by I.J. I saw a funny article today on the blossoming friendship between Ichiro and Junior. I think you'll like it.
Ichiro Suzuki spreads a towel on the carpeted floor in front of his locker, lies on his back and begins doing stretching exercises. From Ichiro’s blind side, Ken Griffey Jr. pounces, gets his hands deep under Ichiro’s armpits and digs in with his fingers.
Ichiro’s laughter is almost childlike – genuine and uncontrolled – and after about five seconds he screams the magic word to make Griffey stop.
Junior stands up, walks back to his locker and sits down. Ichiro lies quietly for a moment, letting his body relax, then goes back to stretching as if nothing had happened.
But he’s smiling.
“This,” trainer Rick Griffin said, “is the happiest I’ve seen Ichiro since 2001.”
