Babe got away with it because that sort of thing didn't happen much in his day. He was a ground-breaker of sorts. He's one of the reasons the unwritten rule about showing up pitchers developed. Truth is no one really knew why Babe was pointing at center field. He might have been calling his shot but he might have been signaling to the other team.

Yeah, back when players respected the game, they would make sure to do the disrespectful things before they hit a dinger.Originally posted by Shaka View PostI'm old school. LOL at pitchers who get offended at bat flips, as if they are showing some weird respect for the game when they intentionally hit players.

Love the bat flip. Love everything about the bat flip. Love the fact that pitchers in their stupidity put more guys on base because of some supposed slight. Stupid pitchers.

Truly I hate the bat flip. If I'm on the mound I throw at the next guy's head.

In light of Bat Flip Mania, I would like to post a video of my second-favorite bat flip ever. Hong Chi Kuo his the third of b2b2b homers off John Maine on three consecutive pitches:
My favorite bat flip ever also came from an Asian pitcher for the Blue. At the very height of Jake Peavy's dominance in San Diego, Kaz Ishii smashed a no-doubter off Peavy in Petco and must have launched the bat 3/4 of the way to first base. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate footage.

It's refreshing to know that there actually are kids out there these days that are legit sports fans.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostA kid on my football team was so excited about all the things that happened in the Rangers/Blue Jays game that he was losing his breath telling me about it. I wish you could have video taped it. Just thinking about it made me chuckle.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostA kid on my football team was so excited about all the things that happened in the Rangers/Blue Jays game that he was losing his breath telling me about it.
