Pro golf pet peeve

This really bothers me.

Every tournament that comes down to the wire, the announcers are obsessed with this

"he hears the roars, I wonder if he's seen the leaderboard"

"I wonder if he knows he needs a birdie to stay in contention"

DAMN IT! Knowing the score of your competitors and what you need to hit to stay in contention is pretty frickin' important. Figure out the score. Get someone on your team to call it in to your caddie or something. Figure it out.

For some reason, a lot of pro golfers don't like to look at the leaderboard at all. If your mental makeup is too freaking fragile to handle knowing who's ahead and what you need to do to win the tournament, then it's probably time to play Uno at family reunions.

They're aware of the scores of the other golfers. They just need to concentrate on what they're doing rather than worry about where they are on the leader board. Golf is more about beating the course than beating the rest of the field.

If you know what the leaderboard is, then you can better decide whether or not to layup or go for the green in 2 on a par 5 and whether or not to go for the pin on a par 3 instead of the middle of the green.

If you're watching the tournament live, and the golfer is laying up, try not to yell out "It's in the Hole!!!" It just makes you look like a moron.

If the golfer is teeing off, and the hole is 600+ yards, see above.

If the golfer is lying 1, and it's a par 5 hole, see above.

If the golfer is lying 1, and it's a par 5 hole, see above.

Can I still yell "Get in the hole!" if I make it clear both before and after that it is meant in a humorous and/or joking manner?

If you are at a golf tournament period. Even if the golfer is putting, on approach, or chipping or similar. Even though it might be situationally appropriate.

Ok, I'm with you now, as I thought you were talking about the golfer. I agree about the announcers doing that.

However, I do like it when Johnny Miller is announcing and he points out the a golfer just choked.

Like I said, the golfers are aware of what the scores are and of course they're going to take some risks if needed. Still, if they focus too much on what the rest of the field is doing, they won't be able to play as well.

I play one shot at a time. I don't pay attention to what the rest of the field is doing, because I can't birdie, par or bogie at will. I try to par or birdie every dang hole.

Saturday I wasn't putting so well. I didn't drop a putt of 8-10 feet. I had 7 of them for birdie and didn't make one. That is why I only shot 75, couldn't putt.

Not making 8-10 footers isn't exactly blowing a putt. However, I would have thought I could have made a couple and got close to par. It is amazing what you can do if you keep your head down. A week or so ago I fired an 88 or close to that. Difference, keeping my head down.
