    Baseball Prospectus Idol

    Besides MP Funk, I'm not sure if there are any other Baseball Prospectus fans. You pretty much have to be a geek to like this stuff, but there are plenty of people on this site who fit that description.

    BP has been losing their statisticians to MLB organizations and is having an "Idol" contest to find replacements where applicants write up statistical papers. I think this stuff is pretty interesting. Here was the best article from the past week -- a mathematical model for predicting Minor League team attendance based on population in the vicinity, age of the stadium, and some other factors.

    I'm a huge BP guy, I have all the Baseball Prospectus books from the last 7 years. I don't have the statistical chops to make a competitive entry in this contest, but I do know enough to enjoy the analysis the guys at BP put out.

    Piggybacking on your thread, are there any Strat-o-Matic players on CUF?

      I had an invite to play Strat-o-Matic one year but I was studying for the bar and didn't think I would have a chance to really get into it.
