    Cap' going insane again.

In a wide-ranging interview with the Sporting News' Steve Greenberg, Abdul-Jabbar says those reasons points to the fact that he hasn't been honored with a Lakers statue outside Staples Center.

"There hasn't been any talk of it," Abdul-Jabbar said. "I don't understand that. It's either an oversight or they're taking me for granted. I'm not going to try to read people's minds, but it doesn't make me happy. It's definitely a slight. I feel slighted."
    ...
"I am highly offended by the total lack of acknowledgement of my contribution to Laker success," Abdul-Jabbar was quoted as saying. "I guess being the lynchpin for five world championships is not considered significant enough in terms of being part of Laker history."
What makes this even more odd is that the Lakers had already told him that he was next in line to get one.

33 then takes to Twitter to start more drama

"It's not about a getting a statue, because I'm over it. It's about RESPECT! Lakers have given me the absolute minimum of respect."
    Among the his other tweets:

-- "Bill Russell is getting his statue after 40 years. Laker immortal Jerry West waited 37 years for his statue. My wait has only been 22 yrs."

--"Rumor has it that I will be getting a statue. A caveat for all my fans-don't hold your breath. Lakers don't care about me."

-- "The only reason I endure is because of all the support I get from Laker fans everywhere I go. Thanks to all for your appreciation."

-- "Magic waited 8 years to be honored in that way. So maybe I am chopped liver?"

-- A fan tweeted, "You are a legend. Why does it bother u so much? Ur accomplishments on court mean a lot more then a statue."

Abdul-Jabar responded, "Your right but there is principal involved so I can't ignore the situation any longer.""

After the various postings, a fan asked Abdul-Jabbar on Twitter, "what kind of actions should the Lakers take that can translate into respect, in your opinion?" Abdul Jabbar replied, "I don't think at this point this can be rectified as this is the first time I have ever made my feelings public. Moving on."

Finally, Cap says his relationship with the Lakers is now over

The relationship is fractured. I said I got a call from Linda Rambis saying I will definitely have a statue out there. But there’s going to be a strike or a lockout, so the Lakers are clearing the deck. I don’t expect my relationship with the team to continue beyond this point. They don’t really value my presence there like they value other people. That’s fairly obvious. I can only speculate to what that’s about, but if you look at how they’ve dealt with Magic over the years and how they’ve dealt with me, there’s a big disparity.

I watched Cap on Mike and Mike and he was putting the Lakers on blast. I don't get it. That's not the way to go about getting your statue. History has proved you don't push the Buss family. He was going to get his, that was never in doubt. I am sure he still will, but is this how you want to be remembered? It wasn't just the statue though. He complained about not getting an assistant coaching gig (not just with the Lakers, but elsewhere), his seat at Staples which he said was terrible and not comfortable, and said he doesn't talk to Magic at all.

I heard the "people skills" thing is the main reason he had a hard time getting the coaching jobs. If so, then this is somewhat true to form. I don't get it, either.

Here is a screen cap of 33 on Mike and Mike.

No wonder he is talking out of his rear end. He is basically wearing a dunce cap!

              Mike Brown? Doug Collins 2.0?

              Blow this thing up.

I really don't like Mike Brown. The good news (for Laker fans) is that he seems to be a players coach and people really like him. The other good news is that the Lakers still have 4 great players (and a bunch of scrubs) and it would be hard for a coach to really screw that up. The other, other good news is that he is a good defensive coach.

The bad news is that he is a horrendous offensive coach. But, as we've seen in Miami, it's possible that LeBron (and Wade) simply refuse to consistently run an offensive system will ball movement, so maybe Brown has a respectable offensive system after all...but I doubt it.

As a hater...I like this hire. Is it a done deal?

Kobe none too pleased about the hire. Or was it because Mitch and Buss didn't get his approval? Probably both.

Would you guys have rather had Mike Brown or Rick Adelman?

FTR, I'm not sure anyone knows what an offense would look like under Mike Brown due to the fact that LeBron always turned the Cleveland's offense into an unwatchable 1 on 5 drudgery. It's what Derrick Rose was doing last night for Chicago and Tom Thibideou is a pretty good coach.

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

The only Mike Brown that I will ever acknowledge is this one:
