    NBA Officials

    Who is the last referee you want officiating your favorite team's game? And who would be your first choice?

    Mine. Last choice has to be Joey Crawford. Ken Mauer is a close second.

    First choice. Steve Javie.

    On a side note, is there another sport where the officials are as well known? Football maybe? Ed "Hercules" comes to mind.

      Tim Donaghy would be my last choice. The Lakers are generally favored which means the fix would be in to beat the spread. The other team would get all the calls.

      I agree about Crawford. He lost it completely the day he got into it with Tim Duncan and asked Duncan if he wanted to fight.

      I like Javie, Bavetta, and Salvatore because they generally give the Lakers the calls.

          Donaghy would be mine as well.

          Funny, as much as people whine about Bavetta I have always liked him too. I always liked Jack Nies back in the day.

              Tough question. They all seem suspect. I remember in the 90s when they called Dick Bavetta "Knick" Bavetta...that was always kind of funny.

              All of the refs named in this thread except for maybe Salvatori sometimes act like the fans are there to see them like they are part of the show...especially Crawford.

              Javie seems to bait coaches occasionally.

              Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

                  Javie is not immune from criticism, by any stretch. I remember in game (Lakers v Blazers), Javie gave Rasheed a T.....for looking at him! Rasheed had already sat down on the ground by his bench, but he kept looking at Javie. So Javie gave him a T. Not one of his better moments.

                      Joe Forte is a good official.

                      Crawford can burn in hell!

                      I cant believe that he was allowed to do a Spurs playoff game last year.
