    at the Mariners game

With my boys. I got a teeny bit choked up explaining things to the five year old (his first game) when the Mariners ran onto the field; showing him Ichiro. Griffy came up and got a nice single his first at bat. Thinking of 3D's slanders against Junior got my blood boiling.

    That's awesome, SU.

Few things in life are better than a father/son day at the ballpark. It's great to take the daughters, but there is something about baseball that was made for a dad and his boy(s).

There seems to be an epidemic of ugly men with attractive women these days. Maybe it's just a Seattle thing.

I still remember my first BYU game with my dad. Utah state, Friday night. I remember him teaching me about the wave and the B-Y-U-cougars cheer. I think I remember some of the players, too. Brad Hunter, the punter, jamal willis, and ty detmer.

          I apologized!

I had to wait for The Oracle to prophesy before I could be sure.

ps were you choked up knowing that you are raising your sons to be fans of a team that will never win a championship?

You are making me feel really old. That was the team when I got back from my mission.

You want to feel old? PAC was long ago graduated from law school when that team played.

I can tell you're clueless about baseball.

I have three daughters. I doubt the two oldest would have been interested in going. The youngest is 3 and wold have been a pain; so that left the boys.

Only football and basketball have to defend players that don't win rings. In baseball guys that have meaningless individual stats but never win anything are among the greatest to ever play.

Most of the "greatest to ever play" baseball actually have rings. Bonds is generally referred to as the greatest home run hitter, not the greatest baseball player.

Come to think of it, are there a lot of good examples of "greatest baseball players of all time" that don't have rings? In basketball, there are not very many guys that get thrown out in that discussion. Maybe 5 or 6? Kareem, MJ, Magic, Bill Russell, maybe a couple more.

In baseball, I can't imagine that there are many, either. Willie Mays is a good example. Paul LoDuca is another example. That's about it...

Are you arguing my point? Exactly in the NBA to be in the discussion for greatest all time player you have to have a ring. Not so in baseball. If Dan Marino were a baseball player they would name a wing of the hall of fame after him.

I don't agree. To be the greatest in any sport, you need a ring. There is no way around this.

Baseball is no exception. I think this is why many consider Babe Ruth to be the greatest of all-time. Greatest hitter, was a pretty good pitcher, won a ton of rings.

Who argues that Dan Marino is the greatest football player of all time?
