Time and time again the Heat loses Green. How is that possible?Originally posted by Surfah View PostWhat I don't understand is how the Heat keep losing Green. If this thing goes 7, Danny Green could push that Finals 3 point record to where it is untouchable.
I loved watching the back and forth of Green and Allen. Very fun shoot out.I'm your huckleberry.

Seriously. It doesn't matter who they put on Green they keep sucking his defender down low to free him up for wide open shots.Originally posted by FN Phat View PostTime and time again the Heat loses Green. How is that possible?

I'm not sure if the Spurs are a better team than the Heat, but I'm positive that Greg Popovich is a better coach than Erik Spoelstra. If Popovich were coaching the Heat, we'd be talking baseball today."The mind is not a boomerang. If you throw it too far it will not come back." ~ Tom McGuane

Is there a betting line on Joey Crawford being one of the refs assigned to Game 6? I'll be absolutely shocked if I don't see that jackass running around the court on Tuesday.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

How about we complain about the refs after they clearly give a game to Miami?
Because so far that hasn't happened, but before every single game it seems there's someone whining about how the Heat will get preferential treatment next time.
It's getting old.

Except the Heat have lost 1/3 of their games in the playoffs the last three years at the hands of Joey Crawford. I'm not sure what your point is here.
I haven't seen him since Game 2 and his showboating ass is overdue to make another appearance and render the game unwatchable.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Ummm, remember 2006? When Dwayne Wade was mistakenly given Dick Bavetta's Finals MVP award?Originally posted by SandYFan View PostI've seen more crying about future officiating in this series....

Discussing Joey Crawford is totally relevant, as he is an infamous referee with a known antipathy for the Spurs."Sure, I fought. I had to fight all my life just to survive. They were all against me. Tried every dirty trick to cut me down, but I beat the bastards and left them in the ditch."

Crawford was suspended for something like half a season because of what happened when he reffed a Spurs game. So, you're right, there is some known antipathy there. On the other hand because it is known, everyone looks for it. Crawford's performance while reffing Heat games is at least anomalous, the fact that he has reffed 1/3 of Miami's playoff losses seems odd to me -- how many of Miami's playoffs games has he reffed overall and how many have they lose. I do know his crew has called the last two games where LeBron fouled out.Originally posted by San Juan Sun View PostUmmm, remember 2006? My biggest beef with the guy is that he makes games unwatchable. That may not have happened in Game 2, I didn't watch it because I was driving on a trip and listening on the radio.
He also seems ref every other playoff game and I was shocked I didn't see him last night in Game 5. I will also be shocked if I don't see him tomorrow night. If he's not there tomorrow night, I'd wager an enormous amount of money on seeing him in Game 7.
And the numbers involving questionable reffing performances in the NBA are becoming legion -- I think the 2006 Finals as a whole stands out by itself. It wasn't just one game, it was multiple games and the entire series. There are three undisputed members of the Mount Rushmore of horrible reffing jobs:
1. The 2006 Finals.
2. Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals. I've heard Ralph Nader discuss sports exactly once, and it was after this game when everyone in the country outside of Southern California thought they just watched the basketball equivalent of the WWF.
3. Game 7 of the 1993 Western Conference Finals. How does a team lose a game where it hits 50% of its shots compared to their opponents' less than 42% shooting? It's pretty easy when your opponent gets 64 foul shots compared to your 36.Last edited by Color Me Badd Fan; 06-17-2013, 03:07 PM.Part of it is based on academic grounds. I'm not sure what you're objecting to. Is Joey Crawford a relevant topic for discussion? I think both myself and CMBF has laid out reasons why. Have referees impacted the outcomes of the NBA Finals? Again, almost certainly yes.Originally posted by SandYFan View PostI do remember 2006.

I think we're watching the most compelling Finals since 2010, and I'm glad for anyone willing to discuss aspects of it. If people talking about Joey Crawford bothers you, your escape is only one click away."Sure, I fought. I had to fight all my life just to survive. They were all against me. Actually, the data points to Crawford actually being a favorable referee for Spurs games. That is ignored because of him acting like a pompous ass in 2007.Originally posted by San Juan Sun View PostUmmm, remember 2006? When Dwayne Wade was mistakenly given Dick Bavetta's Finals MVP award?

Here's a random aside...when the hotel I worked for was franchised a Marriott the person who came out to train us on their MARSHA system was Dick Bavetta's girlfriend. She wasn't completely unattractive and was around 25 years his junior.

Game 7 of the 2000 Conference Finals was one of the best games I've ever seen. I also totally hated the 2000 Jailblazers team. I don't really want to besmirch it, but I will anyway. The Lakers shot 21 more foul shots than the Blazers. Mind you, we're not talking about 64 foul shots here, the Lakers had 37.
But it's interesting to me that Dick Bavetta was a ref in that game, Game 7 of the 1993 WCF and Game 6 of the 2002 WCF.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
