Not a bad fit at all for Collie. He's likely to get a chance to see some time as potentially a #3 WR, especially with Marvin Harrison likely not to return to Indy next season. You know Indy likes to throw the ball, so as long as Collie works, he'll get a chance and, with Peyton throwing the ball around, could put up decent numbers.
Have to be happy if you're Austin. -

Good situation for Collie. And he's competing with a bunch of no-names for that 3rd WR spot. I kept on looking for where he got drafted on the TV and couldn't find it. Collie couldn't have asked for a better situation. It may not be a stretch to say that Collie very well could have a better rookie season than Darrius Heyward-Bay who went at #7 to Oakland. I can understand why Davis wasn't enamored with Crabtree or Maclin. All they did in college was run a bunch of drags and ten yard patterns, that won't get you by in the NFL. On the other hand, drafting Darrius Rodham-Clinton was idotic simply for the reason the Raiders have so many other positions of need and far superior and sought after talents at those positions.Originally posted by Sizzle View Post
I'm a Niners fan and though I can understand the Crabtree pick- position of need and a lot of teams have him rated high- I'm not a huge fan of it because I think Crabtree is going to be a bust. Fitzgerald and Megatron clearly looked like superior athletes in college and they weren't running the spread offense. Crabtree never looked like a superior athlete to me and WRs seem to have a lot of bust potential.

I agree that WRs seem to have a lot of bust potential, and Crabtree is the type of guy that could easily be a bust. And, while Crabtree put up ridiculously large numbers in his two years at Tech in the spread offense, I think he still drew double teams and was clearly the focal point of most defenses. Even if he is a total bust, you can't get terribly upset with the pick as his production in college makes him worth the risk. I really liked the Nate Davis pick. Part of me is a bit disappointed they passed on Everette Brown in round #2 and traded the pick to Carolina because I think they needed a guy who could put some pressure on the QB. A little disappointed that they didn't bolster their lines on either side of the ball, and, I think part of me hoped they took Rashard Johnson of Alabama in round 3 at Safety.
