        50 Feet...goodness.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I like Adam Scott, but I can't get over the long putter.

I came in specifically to post this. Scott seems like a good guy, but I just have a strong visceral desire to dislike anyone who uses a belly putter and isn't on the Senior's tour.

Plus I don't much like Stevie Williams.

Scott doesn't use a belly putter. It's more of a neck putter.

He learned it from watching Tiger. Personally, I hope Scott runs away with it tomorrow.

I also enjoy how the Tiger fanboys don't care to admit that Scott is a better with the long putter than Tiger is with the short stick.

Who said that he isn't better? I'll readily admit that Scott is putting better. I just think long putters are gimmicky and guys turn to them when they can't putt. I actually would be in favor of them getting banned from the tour. I'd lose respect for Tiger if he went to a long putter.

I presume you're also in favor of banning hybrid irons, adjustable drivers, 3 piece golf balls, and other advancements in technology.

While we're at it, let's get rid of these newfangled "metal" woods.

Those aren't the same. It's not an advancement in technology as much as creating a third point of contact with the club with either the chest or belly. I am in favor of a maximum length like the driver has. And again, only for the tour. I think Tiger proposed that the putter can't be any longer than the longest club in your bag. I dig that, as long as that third point of contact doesn't occur.

Why are belly putters considered to be less legit? Is that really the case? I honestly don't know.

It depends on who you ask. Traditionalists argue they're not legit. Most of this hinges on the argument that it does not constitute a fair swing as the club is anchored against the body. I agree with this argument. Being able to anchor the club allows you to truly swing the club like a pendulum negating the yips. Plus they look stupid sticking out of a bag.

Tiger has been lobbying the PGA to get them banned on tour. He says the putter should not be any longer then the next shortest club in the bag. I was really disappointed when Phil tried out a belly putter last year.
