  • 2012 NBA Playoffs: I love this game!

The official discussion thread for 2012 NBA playoff basketball.

    So the matchups are set:

    West:

    1-San Antonio
    8-Utah

    4-Memphis
    5-L.A. Clippers

    3-L.A. Lakers
    6-Denver

    2-Oklahoma City
    7-Dallas

    East:

    1-Chicago
    8-Philadelphia

    4-Boston
    5-Atlanta

    3-Indiana
    6-Orlando

    2-Miami
    7-New York

I'm picking mostly favorites, with SAS and OKC in the West Finals, and Miami and Chicago in the East.

Finals, I'll take Miami over OKC in 6.

    Make your picks!
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

I'm tempted to go with all the higher seeds. But here are my upset picks:

Boston over ATL (ATL has the better record and home court)
        Clippers over Memphis
If I had to pick a major upset, it would be Dallas over OKC with Beaubois abusing Fisher in the second unit.

SA and Miami in the finals, Miami wins.

          Defense will win this championship

          Chicago and SA

          Chicago wins.

Chicago reserves have learned to play without Rose this season and are ready to step up so he does not have to try and do it all like last year.

I will take the Spurs over the Celtics. One more last hurrah for Tim Duncan.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Rose out for the playoffs. Congrats, Miami Heat. Enjoy the asterisk trophy.

Right now Rudy Tomjanovich is somewhere saying "never underestimate the heart of a champion!".

                      Great ending.

                      OKC V. Miami.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

So did cramming a ridiculous number of games into a few months have anything to do with Rose's injury issues this year and now with the season ending injury? Will Rose ever be close to the same next year?
