Looks like the Mariners are going to pick up Milton Bradley. They'll be trading Carlos Silva in almost a wash for salaries. Good move by the M's. They weren't going to get any production from Silva, so might as well try and get something. Griffey has a great history of helping to keep the clubhouse happy. Hopefully he can keep Bradley happy and productive.

Cliff Lee is butt sore about going to Seattle. Maybe he can go to Philly Ya Belly! in Everett. The cheesesteaks there are as good as the one I had a Geno's in Philly.

Finally! The M's finally have good management. Now let's hope Felix doesn't get lazy with all that cash.

Though he may be 40 years old now, sometimes "The Kid" needs to sleep.

                    Griffey

Seattle Mariners star Ken Griffey Jr. missed a chance to enter an unspecified game last week as a pinch hitter because he was asleep in the clubhouse, according to a report from the Tacoma News Tribune.

When pressed following the game as to why he had not used the left-handed slugger as a pinch hitter, Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu was evasive.

But according to two unnamed younger Seattle players who are both fond of Griffey, the future Hall of Famer had fallen asleep.

"He was asleep in the clubhouse," one player told the Tribune. "He'd gone back about the fifth inning to get a jacket and didn't come back. I went back in about the seventh inning -- and he was in his chair, sound asleep."

The second player, who is reported to know Griffey better, claims the scuffling slugger has had difficulty sleeping at home.

"He doesn't sleep well at night, he's away from his family, he's comfortable in the clubhouse," he told the Tribune. "They could have awakened him."

Griffey is batting .208 with just five RBIs for a last-place Mariners club that has struggled mightily in trying to get runs across the plate this season.

I read that today and had a little chuckle to myself.

On a more serious note, the Mariners are in some serious need of some offense. Their pitching is great, just superb and is going to get better, but they have got to get some people in there there to hit. Three of their losses in their eight game losing streak were in extra innings. They chopped their hitting coach, which Mike Sweeney seemed to take particularly hard, and they released Eric Byrnes to bring up some AAA guys. Something's gotta work. Milton Bradley is not doing the job. I would say they need to go out and get someone off the market, but no one is selling yet. Luckily, the AL West isn't that great, so no one has really pulled away.

This offense is just atrocious. Another one run loss tonight.

Good article on espn.com about Milton Bradley. Hopefully he can get his stuff figured out. I wish the Mariners would make me feel as hopeful about them as this article makes me feel about Bradley.

lol @ Morales of the LAAAA for blowing out his ankle on his celebration jump after yarding a game winning GS. You never want to see an injury, but the celebration injuries are funny to me.
