I always knew Mike Brown was a POS coach, but the job he's doing with the Lakers might be his worst effort yet. Bynum and Gasol have to be the best big man tandem in the league and Kobe is still one of the top 2-3 SGs in the league. Sure, Fisher and MWP are garbage and the bench isn't much to write home about, but with Bynum, Kobe and Gasol, the Lakers can be losing back to back against the likes of Detroit and Washington.I'm like LeBron James.

My problem with Brown is he's a defensive coach. And while I think the Lakers have improved on that side of the ball, their offense is terrible at times. Brown doesn't have a clue on offense. It showed in Cleveland and it is showing up here in LA. He's even commented that he defers much of it to Kobe, just like he did in with Bron. The Lakers averaged 101 ppg last year. Granted they lost 6th man Odom, but still they're only averaging 93 this year. Brown is proving to be a terrible hire. I fear where Baby Buss is taking this franchise.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI always knew Mike Brown was a POS coach, but the job he's doing with the Lakers might be his worst effort yet. I have not found a single Laker fan that was happy about Brown's hiring when it happened. All of us on CUF were pretty pissed. It looks like all of us idiot fans were right. Why couldn't Buss see what everybody else could see. It was damn obvious that Brown was not a great coach when he was in Cleveland.Originally posted by Maximus View PostLakers could have gotten adelman. Or basically anyone else they wanted. I was interested to see Nate McMillan's house up for sale while house hunting in Portland this week. But now people are starting to talk about him getting canned.
I don't follow the Blazers closely, but seems like McMillan is not entirely to blame for their mediocrity, between Oden, Roy and Felton, which were all out of his control.

I think McMillan is a good coach. With 30 teams in the league, I'd put him in the top 10 among coaches. Funk or somebody who follows them closer might disagree, but if McMillan gets fired, that's an easy, significant, upgrade for the Jazz if they want it.I'm like LeBron James.

Dunk of the year? Check out the still shot toward the end of the video that shows how high his head was at one point. The reaction of Houston's bench is pretty funny.
Since I thought Green would be a star in the league coming out of HS, I should mention he also scored 26 on 10-15 in the game.

I do think that he should be fired, not necessarily because he is a bad coach but he has run his time in Portland. McMillan really is a good defensive coach, the problem is with his offense. I realize that he has got the team playing more uptempo this year, but that is too little too late. If you want to hire McMillan, go for it but you want to get him a solid offensive assistant. He is the opposite of Jerry Sloan in that respect. Sloan was really good on offense, but poor as a defensive coach.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostAgree.

Oh and jacob is right, the Blazers mediocrity isn't on McMillan. It is on Paul Allen. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Awesome dunk, but his head wasn't above the rim. That's a camera angle. When asked after the game if he always had to worry about hitting his head on the rim he responded that he doesn't jump that high. The reporters scoffed, having seen the footage, but with a little math we see that Gerald is right.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostDunk of the year? He's 6'6", lets call it 6'8" with shoes on to be generous. That's 80". The rim is 120" off the ground, but lets give it another inch to the bottom of the rim, so 119". For him to hit his head on the rim, he'd have to jump 39" vertically, with his head passing the rim at the peak of his jump to graze the rim.
When he was measured at the pre-draft camp, his max, running vertical was 39". So, on his best day, he could probably graze the rim with the top of his head if he was really trying.
Even so, that was an amazing dunk and he jumps as high as anyone in the league.
