I am hearing a lot about my boy Maka Unufe being the next big thing for US Rugby.

Whats the scoop on him? For those that don't know he was mixed up in gangs until his junior year of high school and really never went to school. He decided to clean up and went back to Provo high as a junior where he played football and just killed it. Received a schollie to play at Utah and then just no showed on signing day. He dropped out of high school again because his girlfriend got pregnant and he started working.

He went to Snows walk-on day a year later ran a 4.37 40 and made the team. But once again quit.

He decided to give Rugby a try (still only 20 years old) and I guess he is killing it right now. Made the All-tournament team at the PanAm games.

Maka was NOT involved in gangs. He played at Provo High as a senior while attending Independence High School.
He didn't sign with UofU because of academic reasons. Which did lead him to Snow College. He did make the team as a walk on. But Snow was unable to find a scholarship for him at that time.
An opportunity came where he could play rugby and be close to his family.
In May of 2011 he play with United U19. In the fall he then played with Utah Warriors Rugby. Which was an opportunity for coaches from all over to see him play.
In October 2011 he made the USA 7s Rugby team which lead him to the Pan Am games in Guadalajara.
