I am not a D-will fan but I find it interesting that last year the Hornets were a good young up and coming team, and this year they are an old, beat down team of other teams castoffs and are being single handedly kept in contention by Paul.

I swear David West was an all-star this year.

Yeah, yeah. Hollinger owns a set of knee pads which he busts out only when CP3 is in town. Tell us something we don't know.

Truth be told, I am a big fan of both. It will be exciting to see these 2 in the coming years. I live in WKY and work in Ill. I get tired of hearing D-Will is SO much better than CP3. I just don't believe that.

          From the article:

...compare Paul's first four seasons to any point guard from the post-merger era, and one conclusion becomes evident really fast -- the only player who can even plausibly compare to him is Magic.
Magic might be as good as Paul?

Ummm....ok. All Magic did was lead the Lakers to an NBA title as a rookie.

I don't follow the NBA, but this is quite possibly the most idiotic comment in the history of covering the NBA.

Then I guessed you missed the article where Hollinger called Paul's rookie season better than Magic's.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I saw that. It was pretty sweet.

Should make all fans of PER very proud.

I've been trying to help build up some Hollinger good will on the Jazz board. I argue that he doesn't treat PER as the be-all end-all because he recognizes the shortcomings of it. Then he writes stuff like this and I can't defend him anymore. He talks all the time about how PER is just something to look at in the pantheon of things to look at, but there are times when he treats its results so matter-of-factly, like he did here.

I don't know where you are hearing this Williams is so much better than CP3 stuff. Most Jazz fans who think Williams is better don't say that he is much better than CP3. Usually the only people saying that one player is so much better are the CP3 fans.

CP3 is better but Williams is very close.

He's hearing it in Illinois, which doesn't seem too far fetched. Like listening to Utah fans talk about Bogut.

One thing that I have noticed is that people are trying to analyze basketball stats like they do baseball stats . They are trying to use advanced statistics as a sole measure of players. It doesn't work in basketball like it does in baseball. Everything in basketball is a team game and you are always going to have that affecting these stats, even when you try to isolate it.

Exactly. I am a superintendent on a Union job. Locals with deep family ties to Illinois. When I get them upset with the CP is better arguement, I stoke the fire by reminding them that The Fighting Illini had Derrick Rose and Eric Gordon taken from them. That really gets them going.
