  • Gotta admit I like Burks here

    • Guess reports that jazz loved burks were true.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

      • I would have gone with Leonard, but Burks isn't a bad pick there. Better choice than going with Singleton. Burks/Kanter is not a bad draft for the Jazz.

Ford says he got a great tip late in the day.

Pleased with Burks. Mild disappointment only comes from not landing Jimmer or Leonard.

          • My 7 year old is still upset that the Jazz didn't take Jimmer at 3.

            • Burks going to turn 29% 3pt% in final college year into legit stroke like Hayward did? (Unfortunately for Burks, Hayward didn't shoot 18% the year before he shot 29%)

              • Apparently the Jazz didn't improve at all in the draft. While I do think it is reasonable to disagree with the picks, they are certainly defensible picks.

                • Wow. I wonder what Kawhi did to completely unimpress the lottery picks +

                  • Hamilton and Kawhi keep sliding, Marcus Morris too.

So how is he the anti-Morris Almond? Better athlete but non-shooter?

                        Yep. Pretty much.

And he's going to be a good pro.

                        • Potential Jazz contributors

Bad Defenders - Jefferson, Burks, Hayward, Harris, Kanter, Miles

Mediocre Defenders - Favors, Millsap, maybe Bell, Watson

                          Good defenders - None.

I expect Favors and Hayward to become better defenders. I don't expect the Jazz to be a good defensive team in the next 5 years. Should be a good rebounding team though.

I'm fine with the Picks of Kanter and Burks, but I still would have taken Valanciunas/Biyombo. I would have taken Leonard too.

Not sure what the problem with Kanter is. He's the clear #3 player in the draft.

If you assume that Burks game will develop in the next year or two, that's not a bad pick at all at #12.

The thing I really like about Burks is he got to the FT line... a lot. Burks can create his own shot. The Jazz have needed a player like that for a long time. I think it's a solid pick. I think Leonard was the better player but Burks will be the better fit.

I think a couple of things hurt him - He is not a good shooter. He also did not perform very well athletically at the testing. I think both things hurt his stock. With that said, I would have been fine picking him up as the Jazz have plenty of scorers. But I think the Jazz liked that Burks might be able to play some point guard.
