    NBA on the brink

Hee hee. Die NBA. Die fucker.

When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

The second I clicked on the link and saw "Bill Simmons," I clicked out and didn't even read the article.

My guess is that he figures out some way to get in a Kobe dig in the article, make a reference to Charles Barkley's weight, and talk about how he and his dad love the Celtics and Red Sox.

        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

And while his league is laying off employees and the commissioner is taking a 20% pay decrease.

NCAA basketball has become completely unwatchable to me after watching a lot of the NBA. Such an inferior level of play is hard to watch.

0 for 3. It's like you are Kobe in game 7 or something.

That's typically my reaction as well, but I was curious to see what he had to say because of the increasing evidence that the NBA is in a major financial crunch. There was some interesting stuff in there.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

More like Karl Malone in the NBA Finals.

Stealing Simmons' material, eh? Pretty lame after bagging on his stuff.

Yeah, they've decided to tax the rich including the ones with real jobs who put people to work, slash social services, put a deadline on the war in Iraq; states are slashing education, law enforcement, etc.

Sooner or later handouts to NBA owners and players are going to take a hit. It's bound to happen.

Well, it's a different sport. You probably would miss the silk robes and affected acrobatics and loud thuds watching collegiate wrestling instead of WWF. I guess it depends on what you value in sport. Personally, what I hate about the NBA is watching guys that make tens of millions of dollars a year play at quarter speed until June.

I hate the NBA. Is that clear? I have a life goal never to live in a city with an NBA team.

I think you'll be able to achieve that goal living in Seattle.

Well, if the the NCAA played an 82-game regular season, followed by 2 months of playoffs, my guess is that some of the earlier games would lose their importance.

Ever been to a standing room only MLB game in late April?

Yeah, that's a problem in the NBA. Ever sat in a seat costing over $100 to watch players just shuffle through a pretense of playing?

The baseball games mean a lot more because you don't have 80% of the teams making the playoffs. In baseball, everyone loses a lot of games, but there are teams with winning records that don't make the playoffs. Also, baseball is an individual sport in parallel with team sport so players care about their individual numbers.
