So tickets to Richmond tomorrow night are pretty cheap. I see lots on CL for <$100. Actually several under $50. Now to convince Gidget. I just want to watch Pastrana.

I haven't watched a Busch series race in a long time (yes I still refer to it as the Busch series). I may DVR the race tomorrow night and watch it on fast forward just to see how Pastrana does. It's the only interesting thing to me about the Busch Series.Originally posted by Surfah View PostSo tickets to Richmond tomorrow night are pretty cheap. I see lots on CL for <$100. I was thoroughly entertained by the Talladega race yesterday. As a Kasey Kahne fan, I get a lot of grief from my friends and family, but it was nice to see him put together another solid race and top 10 finish. Kurt Busch's Ricky Bobby paint scheme was awesome, as was the way his crew chief and spotter kept calling him Ricky Bobby on the radio.
Next up: The Lady in Black on Saturday.

When I first saw Kurt Busch's car I was thinking that maybe BYU sponsored part of the car with some of that $450M dollar lawsuit money they just got...

This thread needs a bump.
I got home yesterday evening and finally got to watch the Coca-Cola 600 on DVR. This is always one of my favorite races of the year. I can't recall watching a cup race in recent memory where one car was so much faster than the rest of the field, but the #5 car was an absolute rocket after the track cooled down. It was good day to be a semi-closet Kasey Kahne fan.

Ryan Newman was winning the race and Bowyer spun out to change the results...
The radio chat...
Clint Bowyer audio
With nine laps to go
Spotter Brett Griffin: "(No.) 39 (Ryan Newman) is going to win the race. … Well, that kinda sucks. Nine more (laps) right here."
Crew chief Brian Pattie: "Is your arm starting to hurt? I bet it's hot in there. Itch it."
Clint Bowyer: "Oh yeah."
Griffin: "Right with you, 88 (Dale Earnhardt Jr.). Right with you, right with you, right with you."
(Bowyer spins out)
Pattie: "I think that tire was going down the whole time, man."
Brian Vickers audio
(With four laps to go)
Crew: "We're probably going to pit here on green."
Vickers: "Are you talking to me?
Crew: "Yeah, we're going to pit."
Vickers: "What? I've got to pit? … I don't understand. Pit right now?"
Crew: "You've got to pit this time. We need that one point."
Vickers: "10-4. Do I got a tire going down?"
Crew: "Yeah. … Come down pit road right now, get a good look at it."
Vickers: "Did you find anything?"
Crew: "I'll see you after the race, Brian. I owe you a kiss."
As they say in NASCAR: "If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'"
Newman ended up finishing third and out of the Chase which he would have made automatically with a victory. Martin Truex Jr., Bowyer’s teammate at Michael Waltrip Racing, ended up seventh and beat Newman in a tiebreaker for the Chase’s last wild-card spot. But after looking at things NASCAR made it all right in the end."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

My browser truncated the thread title to "Strap in five ways, let 'er go." I assumed it was another SU thread."What are you prepared to do?" - Jimmy Malone
"What choice?" - Abe Petrovsky

5 cars were able to pass without incident.
If he gunned it, like eye witnesses are saying and appears based on the video, dude should never race again. I don't think his intent was to kill the dude, but he probably did intend to scare him.
Tony Stewart almost killed a driver last year, he should be done IMO.
That they were even considering him racing this morning is indescribably stupid.

Only Tony Stewart knows what was going through his mind as it happened and of course he'll always say it was totally unintentional.Originally posted by fusnik View Post5 cars were able to pass without incident.

I agree with you -- he probably was trying to scare Ward, thinking he would be smart enough to jump out of the way at the last second.

That escalated quickly. I think Brick killed a guy."Sure, I fought. I had to fight all my life just to survive. They were all against me. Tried every dirty trick to cut me down, but I beat the bastards and left them in the ditch."

Tony Stewart
I don't watch auto racing that much, Did when I was a kid and only got a few channels and there wasn't any football or basket all on. Brother gets into it though and would watch it after church when he came to our house. I probably would not mind attending a car race in person. I don't mind attending horse racing myself. It is a dangerous sport, Tony Stewart I guess guy got too close to him and lost life, and Tony Stewart wanted to race today. I would be too shaken up to want to race that quick. That would be worst feeling to be the driver in accident that kills someone. Don't know if there will be any criminal charges but that would shake a few people up.

He should be banned for life from NASCAR and be up for vehicular homicide. That video is pretty compelling. He gunned it and it looks like the guy was getting out of the way as he gunned it causing his tail end to fish and run the guy over.Originally posted by fusnik View Post5 cars were able to pass without incident.
