  • The Giants: World Champions Thread

Went to fan fest last saturday, it was a complete cluster but got to talk to the announcers, which was fun. Then, in Philly all week for work, I got to drive by citizens bank park and think about uribe's glorious opposite field home.

Looking forward to Scottsdale next month and bringing another cuffer into the fold.

I bet the fan fest this year was unreal.

I am excited to see how hungry this team still is.

I'm pretty sure I saw Lincecum jogging around downtown the other day. Takin to the streets like Rocky -- he's hungry!
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Fan fest was ridiculous, I actually wouldn't do it again it was just too busy. The only cool part was seeing how 'skinny' Pablo Sandoval was. He looked great.

Looking forward to spring training in a couple weeks.

Got back from Spring Training last night, had a great time. Saw the Giants play the Padres, Dodgers, Rangers, and Brewers. Here are some thoughts:

                    - The Padres will finish last or next to last this year (although I think they were supposed to last year). Without Gonzalez, I don't see how they'll ever score.

                    - Lincecum pitched 4 innings and didn't look great, but I'm sure he'll get it together. Cain pitched 3 innings and looked great, especially since he's coming off an injury. Vogelsong looks like a solid long reliever. Runzler, a potential 5th starter, doesn't look quite polished yet. Jeff Suppan better not make the team, he is awful.

                    - Texas fans are really nice, the game was at their stadium (in Surprise, yikes) and I'd say almost half the fans were Giants. None of the fans seemed bitter or resentful of us.

-Pablo Sandoval is losing some serious weight, I hope he can continue it. The loss in weight is definitely helping his defense, but he still needs to swing at better pitches.

-SS is the biggest question mark, Tejada is not good and Mark DeRosa's defense was bad. Having said that, I see the opening day lineup as Torres cf, Sanchez 2b, Huff 1b, Posey c, Burrell lf, Ross rf, Tejada ss, Sandoval 3b, Lincecum p. That's a pretty good lineup IMO. Ross and Huff have been smashing the ball, I think Huff was 3-3 yesterday with 2 doubles and a HR. Torres is showing no signs of slowing down after last year.

-Regarding the SS position, I'm liking Crawford, but I highly doubt he'll get called up this year, his defense is pretty good but he needs to hit more consistently. I like Brandon Belt, his defense was pretty good but I doubt they'll bring him up before June a la Posey last year.

-I thought Schierholtz would be cut, but he played very well the last couple games, even gunning down a Ranger at 3b from right field, he has a cannon for an arm.

                    Can't wait for opening day.

I think Schierholtz will play a similar role to last year. Late inning defense. Especially if Burrell and Huff are in the OF.

On a semi-related note, has anyone seen the MLB 2K11 commercials with Brian Wilson? Besides being a hilarious commercial, dude is a fairly good comic/actor. Must be the magic in the beard.

Me too. I fixed the link to the better quality one.

I think I might start working out in True Religion jeans too. I had been working out in Joe's, but Andres has shown me the light.
