Vince Carter adds nothing that the Spurs need to beat the Lakers.
Right now, Brad Miller might be the hottest commodity in the NBA. Teams need size to counter the Lakers. they don't need washed-up ex-dunkers that play zero defense.

The only explanation I can think of is the fact that the Spurs offense has become stagnant at times. But honestly it doesnt make much sense at all.
They are looking to acquire Vince Carter. However New Jersey wants Roger Mason and George Hill.
I dont do this trade if I am SA.
If all takes is Mason and Hill, I'm on that like white on rice.
It's easy to say Carter is washed up, but his numbers say differently. He's still averaging 21/5/5 and around 40% from 3 (on a healthy 4.6 attempts per game) with a PER north of 20. He's not what he was, but he's still extremely productive.
Of course it doesn't give you size on the middle to counter the Lakers, but if all it takes is the two mentioned players, the Spurs should do it in a hurry.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

without mason this year the spurs are below .500 given all their injuries. Mason is their best clutch shooter imho. No way I trade their young talent for Carter
Young talent? Mason is 28 and has never scored above 9 ppg game until this year. The fact that you could turn him into a chip that lands you VC would be incredible.
I do think Hill is a young talent, but when Duncan is gone are you going to say, "boy, I'm sure glad we kept Roger Mason and George Hill?" Or are you going to wish you had traded them for the shot at another couple championships?

One of the bigger mistakes the Wizards made last off season was letting Roger Mason go.
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
• It has come up that the rumored San Antonio-New Jersey deal for Vince Carter in its present form would require the Nets to cut three players. If San Antonio were to send Fabricio Oberto, Bruce Bowen, George Hill and Roger Mason to New Jersey for Carter, the Nets would have to cut three of their 15 players before the trade is approved … even though they'd likely cut Bowen and Oberto afterward.

Yep per what I read, both Bowen and Oberto would most likely wait 30 days and resign with SAS.
We drove by the Alamo Dome yesterday. It was as boring from the outside as all other NBA arenas. There was some kind of reenactment going on at the real Alamo that was kind of cool about a showdown between the Texas militia and the United States. My son kept asking me who the bad guys were. When I said neither some lady in front of me got really upset and said this classic line to me "Teach your son that Texas is never the bad guy."
That is a trade where you get more value, but I don't think VC would really fit what they are trying to do there. It looks like a case where superior talent does not help make the whole better.
